The Chairman of the Board of the S. Seifullin KATU Kairat Aituganov has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the Republic of Kazakhstan Liat Vekselman

Today the Chairman of the Board of the S. Seifullin KATU Kairat Aituganov has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the Republic of Kazakhstan Liat Vekselman and the head of the Agency for the Development of International Cooperation under the Israeli Foreign Ministry Einat Schlein.

In his welcoming speech, Kairat Aituganov told them about the history of the university, which next year celebrates its 65th anniversary. Currently, 12 thousand students receive knowledge at 8 faculties of the university. Last year, KATU included three subsidiaries, which today act as unique experimental sites for the university's scientific projects.

According to Kairat Aituganov, the agricultural experience of Israel has long been used in the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan. In particular, the greenhouse business is widespread in the south of the country, drip irrigation and water treatment are used - all according to Israeli technology. At the same time, the potential for cooperation between KATU and Israel is quite large - from joint research projects to internships for master and PhD students of the university in Israel.

The Chairman of the Board of KATU pointed out the areas in which the parties could strengthen cooperation: digitalization of agriculture, computer technology, energy and mechanical engineering, agricultural technologies, architecture and design.

- I hope this meeting will be the beginning of real projects and programs for the benefit of both parties. Memorandums should work, - K. Aituganov emphasized.

And the field for activity in the northern regions of Kazakhstan is more than fertile. Common ground between the two countries can be found in many areas.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Kazakhstan Liat Vekselman supported this idea, noting that Israel has developed warm relations with Kazakhstan in many areas, including in the agro-industrial complex. The head of the MASHAF agency, Einat Schlein, dwelled on them in more detail.

Einat Schlein, in her turn, thanked the leadership of KATU for the warm welcome and said that this is her first visit to Kazakhstan and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation.

- Our organization is also 64 years old, we have trained more than 300 thousand people in different directions, - said Einat Schlein.

Due to the pandemic, all courses have been transferred to distance learning. But there were also advantages to this. For example, in 2020, more than 11 thousand graduates of our program were able to study. And among them there were participants from countries that would never have been able to participate live. But thanks to online training, they were able to obtain the knowledge they needed for themselves.

Einat Schlein expressed the hope that by the end of this year it will be possible to conduct field seminars, however, with the only condition - in the presence of a vaccination passport.

- Previously, we ourselves provided a list of courses, but now we will ask the listeners what courses they need to improve their professional competence and we will develop the program they need, - said Einat Schlein.

Thus, the agency is ready to hold seminars on environmental issues, agricultural technology, precision farming, modernization of water canals, food safety, as well as on the training of agricultural specialists.

Kairat Aituganov summarized that all projects are relevant and interesting. He thanked the guests for the productive negotiations and expressed hope for further cooperation.
