The chair «Marketing» of S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical university was founded in February 2001 as a result of the division of the former joint department «Agricultural economy, management and marketing». Since the establishment until the present time the faculty is a scientific and educational division of economic section.

Over the entire period during which the chair has come a long and glorious path, it has made an enormous contribution to the training and educating the army of marketing specialists, highly qualified experts, and national cadres of the country’s economy.


The staff of the chair consists of 18 lecturers, including 2 Doctors of Sciences, among them 1 professor; 4 candidates of economic sciences, including one professor, two associate professors; one PhD professor. Three Professors of the department were awarded the title of «The best teacher of the University of the Republic of Kazakhstan» in different periods of time. Four lecturers were trained on «Bolashak» program during the last three years.

The lecturers of the department are actively involved in the implementation of scientific projects of program-targeted and grant funding. So in recent years, the department has carried out scientific research on the following projects:

«Substantiation of effective logical systems for the development of food zones of cities of Northern Kazakhstan». Project Supervisor – Professor B. Rustembayev

«Study of population migration issues from southern to northern regions of Kazakhstan and development of recommendations for regulating resettlement from southern regions to the north (on the example of Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions)», performer - Professor B. Rustembayev

«Development of recommendations for creating conditions necessary for attracting highly qualified specialists to agriculture in Kazakhstan (based on materials from Akmola region)», performer - R. Karabasov

«Development of technology for growing new aquaculture facilities on geothermal sources», performer - R. Karabasov

«Development of a model for the effective functioning of personal subsidiary farms on the example of poultry meat production», performer – A. Shaimerdenova.

Through the UN Development Program Associate Professor B. Asilov participated in the study of the development of fisheries in Korgalzhin district of Akmola region as a marketing specialist.

The chair trains specialists (bachelors, masters and doctors) in the field, «Marketing» occupying an important role in the economic sector.

Since 2019, the department has developed and implemented a new educational program in the specialty "Digital Marketing" aimed at training highly qualified specialists who are able to form ideas about modern theoretical and practical problems of marketing, management, economics and business using digital technologies. The training program is focused on training specialists who effectively solve marketing problems, who are able to make non-standard decisions that ensure competitiveness, successful and sustainable development of the company.

The classes in the chair are conducted in state language (Kazakh), Russian and English. Since the department became independent and teaches students of all disciplines on the subject of «Marketing», «Price formation», «Econometrics for Business Solutions », «Marketing in agribusiness», « Infrastructure of the market», «Digital Marketing», «B2B Marketing », «Neuromarketing » etc.

The chair is staffed by 5 computer classrooms, where lecturers in the learning process practice the innovative computer, multimedia and interactive technologies.

Lecturers of the department are actively involved in explaining the development and introduction of a market economy. To this end, lectures are held in various enterprises in the city, region and country level. All this contributes to improving the training of specialists at the level of modern requirements.

Since 2015, an admission to PhD has been opened for a doctorate in the specialty "Marketing", where highly qualified scientists, professors of the university conduct training. Currently, three candidates are studying at the doctoral level.

There is a magistracy in profile and scientific-pedagogical direction, where 21 undergraduates study.

To date, academic mobility of students is actively developing. In recent years, students of the specialty "Marketing" were trained at the Czech university of life sciences in Prague and at the University of Missouri in the United States. In its turn the students from other universities have chosen and completed training at our department in the specialty "Marketing"Today, the percentage of employment of our graduates makes up 90%. Our cadres are working in the ministries, regional departments, district administrations, in national holdings, in akimats of various levels, in agricultural formations, trade and public catering establishments, advertising agencies, publishing houses, tourist companies, etc.



Department history

The chair«Marketing» of S.Seifullin Kazakh AgroTechnical university was created in February 2001 by dividing the former joint chairof «Agricultural economy, management and marketing». Under the first title«Marketing and Commerce» chairworked until November 2008, then it was renamed as the chair of «Marketing and Service». Since the establishment until the present time the faculty is a scientific and educational division of economics sector.

In the ranks of the first Pleiad of teachers of the chair were: Candidate of Economic Sciences Kassenov Sabyr; Candidate of Economic Sciences Baltin Batyrkhan; PhD Candidate of Economic Sciences Dzhanadilov M.B.; Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Laznik Emma F.; Candidate of Economic Sciences Bakhyt Asilov; Candidate of Economic Sciences Zholmuhanova Aigul.

The heads of the chair were Kassenov Sabyr during 2001-2002; Kumekbaeva Zhanarduring 2002-2003; Kaskatayev Nurlan during 2003-2010. Since October 2010 the head of the chair has been the Doctor of economic Sciences, professor Rustembayev Bazarhan.

All heads of chair have made an invaluable contribution to the development of training and educational and scientific-research activities.

Based on the decision of the Academic Council of the S.Seifullin Kazakh AgroTechnical university of 29 June 2012 and according to the order № 420 from 10.09.2012 two chair «Marketing and Service» and «Economic and mathematical modeling» were united.

The chairof «Economic-mathematical modeling» was formed at the Faculty of Economics in 1967, then it was called «Mathematical Methods and Computer Science». In 1971, the name of the chair was renamed to the «Economic Cybernetics», and since 1992, the department was named «Economic-mathematical modeling».

In different years the chair was headed by: Professor Rezvantsev B.Z. (1967-1982), Professor Abuov K.K. (1982-1986), Professor Vladimir Yevtushenko (1986-1987), Professor Shlefrin V.I. (1987-1991), Doctor of Economics, Professor Abuov K.K. (1991-2005), Candidate of Economic Sciences Akhmetova D.T. (2005-2007). From May 2007 to 2012 the department was in charge of Candidate of Economic Sciences Mutallyapova S.E. Today, the combined two chairs function as the chair of «Marketing and Service».

Brief description of the application of knowledge: any organization involved in the competition for attention, favor and money of customers, should solve a number of important tasks: the definition of consumers; finding ways to attract and meet their needs; identify the needs of consumers and life values; identification of competitors in the market; belief in the benefit of customers over the competition organization, etc. The solution to all these problems provides expert marketer.

Thus it is not surprising that the market in our region today demanded labor specialists in marketing, advertising, marketing managers and sales and other workers, who must hold a degree in marketing. Therefore, one can predict that the further development of market relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan will lead to increased demand for specialists in marketing.

Brief description of skills: graduate specialty degree in marketing in the learning process develops the following skills:

- Understanding of market research data and the ability to make the right conclusions from them; the ability to analyze databases and statistics and others);

- Wide horizons (cognition skilled marketer limited not only their industry and marketing);

- Psychology of Management (requires a deep understanding of human motivation of the client);

- Interpersonal skills (listening, charisma marketer, sympathy, etc);

- Analytical skills (understanding of different data reporting financial, budget, etc);

- Extensive cultural knowledge (knowledge in the field of culture an important part of the key skills in marketing, especially the culture of other countries), and others.

  • Organization and conduct of the business to provide services in different types and forms of social and cultural services (entertainment, trade, hotel business, catering, etc.);
  • The development of service policies of an economic entity in the field of basic and additional services;
  • Promotion of services, quality assurance services (efficiency, availability, reliability, safety, ergonomics, aesthetics, and others.);

Program Summary: The aim of the educational program of the 5B051100 –"Marketing" by profile preparation is to prepare marketing specialists of the new formation, with high-grade and high-quality specialized education, professional competence, in-depth theoretical and practical individual training in the field of state and local government; with the development of sustainable knowledge, providing a high level of intellectual development, mastery of the moral, ethical and legal standards, culture of thinking, the development of creativity, initiative and innovation.

The purpose of the educational program at the scientific and pedagogical training: training specialist marketer of a new formation, with the ability to self-improvement and self-development, needs and skills of independent creative mastery of new knowledge throughout their active life; with a high level of professional culture, including the culture of professional communication, high civil position, ability to formulate and solve modern scientific and practical problems, to successfully carry out teaching, research and management activities; acquire research skills, to participate in research activities at various levels, to continue research in doctoral training; obtain the required minimum of knowledge in the field of university pedagogy and psychology and experience of teaching at the university.

Training is carried out in two directions:

  • the profile (1 year);
  • scientific and pedagogical (2 years)

Form of education: full-time

Brief description of the application of knowledge: any organization involved in the competition for attention, favor and money of customers, should solve a number of important tasks: the definition of consumers; finding ways to attract and meet their needs; identify the needs of consumers and life values; identification of competitors in the market; belief in the benefit of customers over the competitive organization, etc. The solution to all these problems provides expert marketer!

Brief description of the application of knowledge: in the modern world, every company must constantly study the market, analyze market opportunities, to choose what products he needs to make, which was in demand from consumers. Management companies always carries out its activities in accordance with market requirements and demands of the consumer. These functions are performed by the marketer. Each enterprise has a marketing department, where marketers are engaged in a constant study of the customer requirements, the best ways to meet the needs, strengths and weaknesses of competitors and the market. Marketing is a popular profession in the educational market.

Brief description of skills: PhD doctoral graduate with a degree in Marketing in the learning process develops the following skills:

  • acquisition, processing and transmission of marketing information with the use of modern technical means;
  • develop a strategy of marketing activities;
  • conducting comprehensive market research;
  • development, organization and implementation of the marketing policy;
  • the use of modern marketing techniques;
  • the application of international quality standards and international standards ISO

Program Summary: The aim of the educational program PhD doctoral specialty 6D051100 - «Marketing» is a training specialist in marketing of the new formation, having a broad fundamental knowledge, proactive, adaptive to the changing requirements of the labor market and modern technology, able to work both individually and in a team.

This educational program reinforces the connection with practice, allowing to prepare high level specialists with high civil position of professional culture, professional competence. Choice doctoral individual trajectory of education in the modern areas of the economy, marketing and commercial activities, makes it possible to create conditions for mobile flexible planning of the educational process, to develop students' ability to self-improvement and self-development, raise the need and skills of independent creative mastery of modern knowledge, to master the basic courses the intersection of science, guaranteeing professional mobility on an international level.

International cooperation

The chair «Marketing» cooperates with leading foreign scientific centers, such as the Association of Logistics of the Hungarian People's Republic, the Kyrgyz State Agrarian University, Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, Novosibirsk State Agrarian University, Omsk State Agrarian University and others.

The work on the invitation of the leading professors from other universities and foreign professors, exchange of experience allow us to solve professional problems in the preparation of modern, competitive specialists, identifing priority areas in research and scientific activities.

Over the past three years leading international experts have been involved in lecturing: Professor Kenneth Gray –Krukstan the University of Minnesota (USA), Marguerite Maury – professor at the University of La Qwill (Italy), Matthias Heinz Dennhardt– professor at Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), Lakatos Peter -Professor Hungarian Logistics Association.

Graduates majoring in 6M051100 – Marketing, participated in foreign scientific training, which was conducted to collect information for the master's thesis developed under the research program. So for the last year undergraduates were trained at the University of La Qwill (Italy) and in Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I Scriabin (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic).

Student life

Students of the specialty «Marketing» and «Socio-cultural service», along with the lecturers take an active part in all events held in the faculty, university, city and national levels.

All lecturers of the department work as advisers of students’ academic groups. Educational work is constructed in the form of business games with the students and educational talks on topics covering different issues of student life and society, arranged meetings with prominent politicians, officials, businessmen, law enforcement and health authorities. Students also visit theaters, museums, exhibitions and cinemas. As a result, knowing the moral and cultural values of the country ethno-cultural identity was formed.

All activities carried out are discussed in the curatorial hours. The students participate in extensive work on the organization of events, enabling timely removal and neutralization of the adverse conditions of life and upbringing, antisocial attitudes, extremism, bad habits, and the issue of needs to strengthen attitudes for a healthy lifestyle.

Advising groups specialty «Marketing» was recognized as the best in the University according to the results in different years. The lecturer of our department Kuttayakova Gulmira was recognized as the best adviser of the University in 2014 and in 2015, 2019 the title "Best curator of the year" was awarded to Khapova A.V.

In 2020, the curators of the department actively conducted open curatorial hours dedicated to significant events. The celebration of the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev was held with special trepidation.

Despite the distant mode of work in connection with the pandemic and the introduction of strict quarantine in the country, the curators of the department did not stop the educational process. On the online curatorial hours, they carried out active explanatory work on measures to prevent coronavirus infection COVID-19. In addition, open online curatorial hours were held dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory and the great people of Kazakhstan.

Information on the subject Olympiads in the chair of «Marketing»

Students of department participate annually in the republican and international competitions organized in various universities of Kazakhstan, and win prizes in the individual and team competitions.

In 2012-2013 academic year in VI International student Olympiad on Management, Economy and Sociology Student MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE  (RF, Yekaterinburg) students of the specialty «Socio-cultural service» Milusheva A., Kuzmenko M., Mukusheva A., Mokan V., Burbukina A. were awarded the nomination «For persistence in promoting their ideas».

In 2014-2015 academic year students of the specialty «Marketing» Uyabekov I., Shagyrova L., Yerzhigitova A., Kabidushev M., Kunanbayev T. were awarded the nomination «Audience Award» at the VII Republican Student Olympiad in the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the discipline of «Marketing».

In 2016-2017 academic year students Akhmetov B., Kiyazov E., Omarov B. Salimov I. Nurmagambetov A.  took part in Republican subject Olympiad in the specialty of «Marketing» in the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and were awarded the 3rd place in the team competition.

The same year students of specialty of «Social-Cultural Service» Khoruzheva E., Esim A., Buralkhieva Z., Sarsembekova D., Zhakenova A. won the 3rd place in IX Republican Olympiad on «Social-Cultural Service» at E.A. Buketov Karagandy State University. At the same Olympiad student Zhakenova Anel won the 3rd honorable place in individual championship.

In 2017-2018 academic year at the International Student Subject Olympiad in the specialty of «Marketing» on the subject of «Digital Marketing» organized by the Kazakhstani Marketing Association the team of Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University «Selskii BREND»: Omarov Bekarys, Kiyazov Yeldos, Nurmagambetov Amir, Salimov Ismail, Akhmetov Bolat won the honorable 2nd place.
