History of the department of Foreign Languages
The department of foreign languages is one of the oldest departments of the Kazakh Agrotechnical University. The history of department begins in 1958. There were numerous reorganizations of the department. First, the Department was an independent division and then it became a part of the energy faculty. The department of foreign languages was also a part of the engineering and educational faculty that is known nowadays as the faculty of Computer Systems and Vocational training, then a part of the humanitarian faculty together with the departments of the Kazakh and Russian languages and also social sciences. In 1996, the Department of Foreign Languages was renamed the Department of World Languages in connection with merging of the Department of Foreign Languages and the Department of the Russian language. In 2008, the Department of World Languages was reorganized into two separate departments - the Department of English and French languages and the Department of German and Russian languages.
Minna Evgenyevna Weber was the first head of the department, and she was the founder of the department. The first teachers of the department were such experts as Dick A.M., Iokhim R.S., Cherepanova V. I. In the subsequent 20years, the department was headed by Romanenko N.A. who managed to make a strong team of experienced and qualified teachers. Further the department was headed by the following teachers: Koroleva T.M., Vorobyova N. A., Moshchenko O. P., Sagatova B. A., Kitaybekova S.O., Baygoshkarova M. I., Tyazhina E.B., Rakhimova D. M.
In November 2012, after merging the Department of English and French languages and the Department of German in one it returned its name “the Department of Foreign Languages”.
Since the foundation the department staff along with teaching pays great attention to educational and methodical, scientific and research work. Currently, the Department staff continues the good tradition, i.e. it takes an active part in all areas of teaching. In order to realize the messages and cultural project "Trinity of languages" by the President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev the university train highly qualified specialists of multilingual groups where education is delivered in three languages - Kazakh, Russian and English.
