From 14 to 16 July 2026, a delegation from the Institute of Recreational Agriculture of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (People's Republic of China) paid an official visit to S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (KATRU).

The Chinese delegation included:

• Wang Jianghui – Director of the Institute of Recreational Agriculture, Research Scientist;
• Yuan Kuimin – Head of the Agricultural Engineering Consulting Group, Research Scientist;
• Sun Jiabo – Head of the Agricultural Wellness and Urban Agriculture Group, Associate Research Scientist;
• Wang Chengpeng – Head of the Flower Breeding and Cultivation Group, Associate Research Scientist;
• Yao Huimin – Head of the Agricultural Engineering Consulting Group, Research Scientist.

Representing S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University were Elmira Aitkazievna Uteubayeva, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Academic Mobility; Gulmira Kalmashevna Satybaldiyeva, Director of the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry; Aliya Askerovna Baitelenova, Head of the Educational Program "Forest Resources and Forestry"; Rahiya Elnazarkyzy, PhD, Acting Associate Professor; Victoria Sergeyevna Gorbulya, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences; and Zhanserik Konyratuly Tileugabylov, Chief Manager of the Department of International Cooperation and Academic Mobility.

On 14 July, the delegation held an official meeting with the University leadership and representatives of the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry. During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in plant breeding, recreational agriculture, floriculture, joint research projects, training of scientific personnel, and academic exchange.

The delegation also toured the University's research laboratories and became acquainted with its modern scientific infrastructure and recent achievements in biotechnology and plant breeding.

On 15 July, the Chinese specialists visited the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry at KATRU, where they held working consultations with faculty members and researchers. Discussions focused on pasture plant breeding, the development of agricultural crops, joint training of specialists, and the implementation of international collaborative research projects.

Later that day, the delegation visited the Astana Botanical Garden, where they explored demonstration plots of ornamental flowers, collections of trees, shrubs, ornamental and medicinal plants, greenhouse facilities, and experimental research sites.

The delegation was welcomed by Medeu Razhanovich Razhanov, Director of the Astana Botanical Garden, a branch of the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction; Kanat Zhanbyrshiyevich, Head of the Dendrology Laboratory; and Balzhan Akhmetbekkyzy Akhylbekova, Academic Secretary of the branch.

During the visit, the guests learned about the Botanical Garden's principal research areas, its plant collections, and ongoing scientific projects. The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in plant introduction and conservation, ornamental horticulture, ecological restoration, urban greening, joint scientific research, knowledge exchange, and the implementation of international projects.

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation through joint research, academic exchange, researcher training, and the development of international projects in sustainable agriculture, ornamental horticulture, and plant biodiversity conservation.

The visit marked an important milestone in strengthening the scientific and educational partnership between S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University and the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, creating new opportunities for collaborative research, academic mobility, and long-term international cooperation.
