On September 30, an introductory program was held at the Department of Molecular Sciences, Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). The event brought together leading professors, researchers, and students engaged in molecular biotechnology.
The visit was moderated by the Director of the Institute, Professor Vadim Kessler, who presented an overview of the institute’s scientific directions, emphasizing their interdisciplinary nature, practical significance in applied science, as well as highlighting the institute’s international cooperation.
Deputy Director of the Institute, Su-Lin Heden, delivered a presentation on academic activities, outlining the features of educational programs at all levels and the university’s collaboration with European institutions. She stressed the interdisciplinary approach to learning, the combination of fundamental training with practical skills, and the active involvement of students in international research projects.
The program continued with Professor Galiya Zamaratskaya, who presented doctoral training programs and the system of organizing scientific research.
Particular interest was drawn to Professor Vadim Kessler’s lecture “Structural studies for nano objects and their implications in agriculture”, attended by the KATU delegation. Professor Kessler presented modern approaches to the study of nano-objects, their importance for agricultural innovations, and provided a high-quality overview of the research outcomes of the institute’s leading scientists, highlighting recent achievements and prospects for practical application.
The final part of the visit focused on discussions regarding the establishment of joint doctoral programs, internships, and the participation of young researchers in certified courses offered by the institute.
Director of the Institute, Professor Kessler, also organized a tour of the laboratories of physico-chemical analysis in molecular sciences, where participants were introduced to the infrastructure of state-of-the-art laboratories.
Event outcome: The Department of Molecular Sciences at the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences of SLU confirmed its leading role in training specialists, conducting innovative research, and fostering international academic cooperation.
