Every year on June 7, the world celebrates "World Food Security Day".

In honor of this event, the 7th International expert meeting on healthy and safe food was held today at the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University.

The hybrid event, which brought together representatives of 7 states, was organized jointly by the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University.

The meeting dedicated to the World Food Safety Day was attended by General Director of the Islamic Organization for Food Safety Baydaulet Yerlan Alimzhanovich, Chief Expert of the Food Safety Department of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhubatkanova Kyzgaldak Sapargalievna, Chief Manager of the Department of Education and Dissemination of Knowledge "National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center" (NASEC) Nasyrkhanova Bakhyt Kayrgazievna, Vice-Chancellor of the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University, Professor, Dr. Asif Ali, as well as foreign and domestic scientists from 7 countries of the Organization of Islamic Partnership, doctoral students, undergraduates and other honored guests.

The moderator of the meeting was Dr. Shahlo Atabayeva, head of the project on healthy and safe nutrition of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS).

Welcoming speech were made by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Seifullin University Kanat Tireuov, General Director of the IOFS Yerlan Baydaulet, Chief Expert of the Food Safety Department of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhubatkanova Kyzgaldak, Chief Manager of the Department of Education and Dissemination of Knowledge of NASEC Nasyrkhanova Bakhyt, Vice-Chancellor of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University, Professor, Dr. Ali Asif.

"Concrete measures should be implemented to reduce imports entering our country and support the export of competitive agricultural products entering foreign markets. At the same time, the experience of developed countries should also be taken into account and ways worthy of our country should be considered," said rector Kanat Tireuov.

Speaking at the discussion session of the conference, foreign and domestic scientists discussed such topical issues as identifying the most vulnerable countries of the world suffering from food shortages, assessing the impact of climate change on food security in the world and studying ways of food production in changing climatic conditions, identifying the main factors of food security.

For example, Dr. Suad Atan and Shahlo Atabayeva gave an exhaustive idea of the methodology for including non-Arab food products, and Dr. Arif Khoja, connected online from Oman, presented the current scenario of intellectual food safety.

Adnan Alrubay, PhD doctor from the University of Arkansas, USA, made an interesting presentation on improving the safety of poultry food products through direct training of teachers and students of KazATRU at the University of Arkansas.

In turn, the domestic scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor of the S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University Balgabai Maykanov focused on food safety issues in education and science and proposed to create a special food safety agency in Kazakhstan as a solution to the problem.

Associate Professor, young scientist of the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, young scientist Laura Auteleeva shared important information about the safety of importing nuts to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the United Nations experts, the world's population is approaching 8 billion people. With such a growing population, food security is becoming the most important global problem.

By the end of 2021, Kazakhstan ranks 32nd in the global food security ranking out of 113 countries and 21st in terms of the minimum level of hunger among 107 countries.

In Muslim countries, the Islamic Organization for Food Security under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation operates to ensure food security. The OIC is the largest international Muslim organization, which includes 57 countries with a population of about 1.5 billion people.

The main goal of the IOFS is to consolidate the capabilities of the OIC member States in the field of food security. Currently, 34 states are members of the IOFS, of which 12 have ratified the Charter of the Organization, and this document has entered into full legal force.

According to UN forecasts, by 2030, even taking into account the global economic recovery, about 670 million people (8% of the world population) will face hunger. This figure corresponds to the indicators of 2015, when the goal was set to eliminate hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition by the end of 2030.

The purpose of today's international expert meeting, organized within the framework of these global problems, is to exchange knowledge and best practices.

The conference participants expressed special gratitude to the Islamic Organization for Food Security and the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University for organizing an effective meeting at the international level, highlighting a globally relevant issues.
