Today the management of Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University held a very scientifically substantiated meeting with representatives of the Southwest University of the People's Republic of China. The delegation of the Chinese university included its President Mr. Wang Jinjun, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges Luo Lei, Director of the Science and Technology Division Hu Changhua, Dean of the School of Agronomy and Biotechnology Lyu Dianqiu, Deputy Director of the Party Committee and the President’s Office Liu Liguang , as well as the Chief of the Division of Joint Programs of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges Zhu Yucheng.
KATRU Chairman of the Board - Rector, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Tireuov, welcoming the guests, introduced them to the history of the university and noted that the university had established important partnerships with higher educational institutions of the PRC:
“The People's Republic of China is one of the main neighboring countries with which we are building a comprehensive strategic partnership. And we are in close contact with a number of universities and research centers in China.”
In turn, the President of Southwest University Wang Jinjun introduced his educational institution to those gathered at the meeting. Mr. Wang Jinjun, indicating the purpose of his visit, stated that he is ready to start projects between the two universities that will give concrete results in research.
Demonstrating the presentation, member of the Board – KATRU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Roza Abisheva gave detailed information about the university.
During the visit, members of the delegation from the PRC visited the Research and Production Platform of Agricultural Biotechnology, the Agroecological Testing Center (laboratory), the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the Research and Experimental Platform for the Production and Processing of Agricultural products, the Kazakh-Chinese Big Data Analysis Center, Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Biotechnology of Microorganisms laboratory, greenhouses with potatoes, as well as an experimental site for variety testing of potato breeding material on the basis of BioNord LLP.
Southwest University of the People's Republic of China offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. In addition, at the meeting, both parties negotiated on sending teachers for professional and scientific internships.
During this meeting, KATRU and the Southwest University of China have signed an agreement on the creation of a China-Kazakhstan Joint Laboratory on Crop Science.
