An open faculty-level lecture on the topic “Wave Optics” was held for students of the Technical Faculty, majoring in B068-24-22,23,24,25 “Food Product Technology.” The lecture was conducted by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physics and Chemistry, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences T.S. Nurbatyrova.
The purpose of the lecture was to deepen students’ knowledge through a video lecture using interactive teaching methods, to foster their cognitive activity, and to develop their creative abilities through question-and-answer techniques.
Students were divided into four teams, each named after a wave phenomenon: interference, diffraction, dispersion, and polarization.
Beforehand, students had watched a video lecture on the topic “Wave Optics.” Each team presented and defended its assigned phenomenon, while the lecturer supplemented and expanded on the topic. The lesson was very engaging, and the attending teachers evaluated the teams’ knowledge.

Implementing Smart Technologies in Urban Agriculture
As part of the project “Production of Fruit and Vegetable Products Using Domestically
Manufactured Hydroponic SMART Systems (Urban Agriculture),” work has begun on
establishing a modern vertical city farm in Astana in collaboration with leading specialists. The
main goal of this research is to develop and promote technologies for year-round cultivation of
leafy greens using artificial LED lighting and a controlled ecosystem. Such systems ensure
efficient use of urban space, stable yields, and high product quality regardless of the season.
Vertical farming allows for the conservation of water and land resources, reduces dependence on
imports, and enhances food security. The project contributes to the development of
entrepreneurial and practical skills among farmers and students, as well as the formation of
sustainable food systems. The implementation of this initiative aligns with national policies on
import substitution, rational use of natural resources, and the advancement of “green” urban
technologies. This innovative approach is gaining relevance among agribusiness producers and
greenhouse enterprises across the agricultural sector.

The role of the Agroecological Testing Center of KATRU in optimizing agriculture in Kazakhstan
In 2024, the Agroecological Testing Center of KATRU implemented 19 contractual projects with agricultural enterprises and farms, primarily focused on agrochemical analysis of soils and water.
At the request of farmers, the Center conducted assessments of essential nutrients, macro- and microelements, and developed electronic agrochemical maps to optimize crop production. Special attention was given to analyzing the granulometric and chemical composition of soils and water, as well as the content of organic carbon.
The Center also carried out studies on the ecological assessment of contamination by heavy metals and petroleum products. The use of modern equipment and digital technologies enables the Agroecological Testing Center to make a significant contribution to the development of scientifically grounded and environmentally sustainable agriculture in Kazakhstan.
The work conducted helps farmers acquire practical skills in determining essential nutrients, accurately assess the potential of their fields, and achieve higher crop yields.
