The Republic of Kazakhstan has large territories and one of the urgent problems is waste management, since the main way of waste disposal is their placement at landfills and dumps. Currently, the amount of waste is increasing significantly. In this regard, there is a need to create a new approach to waste disposal. Systemic problems arise in the creation of waste management infrastructure, including the lack of qualified specialists able to cope with the growing amount of waste using a systematic approach. Another significant problem for the agricultural regions of Kazakhstan is the processing of agricultural waste.
The project aims to develop thewaste management Master program in each of the partner countries, which will be implemented and accredited by all universities in the consortium. The Master program development is necessary because of introduced experience in waste recycling bases on the principles of a circular economy, which is very important for Kazakhstan. In addition, waste management specialists are in demand in the labor market.
The aim of the project is to develop a joint interdisciplinary Master program "Waste Management" with the aim of raising awareness of the circular economy using the experience of European universities.
Projectobjectives:
- Development of a joint interdisciplinary Master program "Waste Management" and its implementation in the educational process
- Transfer of knowledge to the academic staff, exchange of experience between countries, passing by the academic staff, students, academic partners and the administration of training and internships on the basis of EU universities and partner universities;
- Effective use of the relevant cluster projects experience on circular economy and waste management, ongoing or completed (national, Erasmusplus, etc.) to transfer knowledge to the general public
- Raising awareness of politicians and the public about the problems to be solved through round tables, consultation and visibility of the project platform and relevant social networks
- Ensuring sustainability through effective and targeted dissemination of project results at regional, national and inter-project levels.
Expected results:

- A recruitment of undergraduates for the educational program "Waste Management" in 2022 was carried out.
- Exchange of 5-6 lecturers and undergraduates experienceat partner universities was carried out.
- A seminar was held on waste management, circular economy, green economy for relevant enterprises.
- An information page was created on the official website of the university, videos and articles on waste management, circular economy, green economy were created and posted on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, etc.), brochures and leaflets were distributed.
- Waste management skills centerwas created.
