President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev visited the ALGIERS Museum and Memorial Complex on May 31 this year. He laid flowers at the memorial and observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims. In his speech to the audience, the Head of State noted that the memory of millions of innocent victims of totalitarianism is sacred.
Invited to the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, from among the descendants of victims of political repression, was a senior lecturer at the Department of Geodesy and Cartography of the Faculty of USRA and D, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Syrym Gabbasovich Gabbasov, grandson of Mukhametkali Koishibaevich Tatimov, one of the first People's commissars (ministers) of labor and health of young Kazakhstan, the plenipotentiary representative of our republic in Moscow. But he was repressed in 1937 and shot in 1938.He was rehabilitated in November 1956. His wife, Tatimovashaktay, spent 8 long years in the Akmola camp of wives of traitors to the motherland ("ALGERIA").
The ALZHIR Museum and Memorial complex was built in 2007 in the village of Akmol in the Tselinograd district of the Akmola region. It should be especially noted that the descendants are sincerely grateful to the entire staff of the ALGIERS Museum and Memorial Complex for their invaluable work and big hearts. The staff of the complex are people of boundless kindness - keepers of the eternal flame of memory, thanks to which it does not go out!
Syrym Gabbasovich notes that his family regularly visits this museum and memorial complex with great trepidation and excitement, especially on May 31, the day of remembrance of victims of political repression, which has become a place of pilgrimage for tens of thousands of citizens of many countries since its creation. Among them, first of all, are the descendants of more than 18 thousand women who passed through ALGERIA by stage and about 8 thousand who served long terms in this terrible camp "from bell to bell." The best representatives of 62 nationalities were the complete embodiment of goodness and believed in it every second, for the entire period of the existence of this essentially terrible place - from January 1938 to the moment of its closure in 1953.
Famous women of that time lived in the barrack where Shaktai Tatimova was housed - Aziza Ryskulova, Zufnun Nurmakova, Damesh Zhurgeneva, Bibizhamal Syrgabekova, Valentina Adamskaya, Aisha Kabulova, Zinaida Tukhachevskaya, Elizaveta Balashova, Gertrude Platais, Mainur Sarymuldayeva, Marianna Antsis, Natalia Akhvelidiani and many, many others. In the evenings, after hard labor, in the short minutes before lights out, there was an atmosphere of warmth, kindness, full of support and understanding. They all believed that there had been some kind of terrible mistake or misunderstanding during the arrest of their husbands and themselves.
The greatness of their wives, sisters and daughters, prisoners of Algeria, is that, having overcome incredible difficulties and having experienced the inhuman treatment of the guards, they did not betray their husbands, fathers and brothers, did not renounce them, which they were persistently and constantly offered with brazen threats. Unfortunately, not a single Algerian prisoner is alive anymore, as far as we know, their children, eyewitnesses of the events of those difficult years, have already passed away.
Today, we must continue the baton of memory - their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and in the future, their children and grandchildren.
