Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University (KATRU) is among the three best universities in Kazakhstan with over 12,000 full-time students and postgraduate-level researchers studying at the University. This large state university has been famous for technological innovations and scientific research. KATRU is also known as Seifullin University.
Saken Seifullin was a famous Kazakh nationalist poet, writer, and one of the influential Kazakh thinkers of the 20th Century. He is considered the father of modern Kazakh literature, who founded the Union of Kazakh Writers in the early 20th Century.

Established in 1957 as an institute, today, the Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University (KATRU) is a hub of scientific and technological innovations and research. It has built knowledge bridges linking academia with business and industry by conducting on-demand studies and research that meet the needs of the industry and economy.
With its 50 fully equipped modern research laboratories, three experimental farms, and forest land for scientific research in north Kazakhstan, and dozens of research centers located across the country, KATRU is a unique seat of learning & research. It is a symbol of quality education and professional training in smart-agriculture energy, ecology, forestry, green technologies, food safety and security, engineering technologies, and other related fields.
The University has 9 faculties and 38 departments where 849 highly qualified professors and scientists create and transfer new knowledge and technologies through innovative teaching, learning, and research approaches and techniques.
KATRU offers 37 bachelor’s degrees, 31 master’s degree programs, and Ph.D. programs in 14 areas of study.

KATRU graduates are in high demand and most find their future employers during their studies at KATRU. The University has agreements with 2690 businesses, industries, and governmental and non-governmental organizations, which offer internships and work placements to KATRU students. We are also in negotiations with our international partners for student placements abroad.
KATRU has nearly 200 partnership agreements with higher education institutions in 35 countries from around the world.
KATRU is in the final stages of developing double-degree master's education programs in cooperation with Agroparistech and the French Institute of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and Forestry.
In 2022, 27 KATRU researchers and young scientists participated in foreign internship programs and completed research and study at foreign higher education institutions. In the same year, 10 KATRU professors and young scientists completed postgraduate studies at reputable foreign universities and returned to KATRU.
