Main / Information About the Meeting As part of the initiative to promote the concept of the “Working Person,” a meeting was held with the renowned entrepreneur, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Hadji-Murat Magomedovich Lyanov, on the topic: “Why is there no cooperation in Kazakhstan?” for third-year students of the Faculty of Economics.

On February 28, 2025, a problem-based lecture titled “Cooperation: Why Doesn’t It Exist in Kazakhstan?” took place. The lecture was delivered by Hadji-Murat Magomedovich Lyanov, a well-known entrepreneur, a 1983 graduate of the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S. Seifullin, and a Doctor of Economic Sciences. The event generated significant interest among third-year economics students.

The students learned that agricultural cooperation is based on the principles of joint ownership and management, where participants collectively own the enterprise, contribute to its operations, and take part in collective decision-making. This approach helps reduce risks and costs while improving production efficiency and product distribution.

The students were particularly interested in the real-world challenges associated with cooperation today. As Lyanov emphasized, many analysts attribute the weak development of agricultural cooperatives in Kazakhstan to the industry’s dependence on government support and farmers’ reluctance to compete with each other. However, he also pointed out that the total number of cooperatives in Kazakhstan is comparable to that of developed countries, and in some cases, even surpasses them. The lack of incentives for farmers to join cooperatives and increase productivity remains a key issue.

According to Lyanov, instead of providing subsidies, the government should stimulate cooperatives and encourage them to mobilize their own financial resources.

As a token of appreciation for the informative lecture and for future fruitful cooperation, Hadji-Murat Magomedovich Lyanov was awarded the S. Seifullin KATU honorary badge by the leadership of the “Scientific Research Institute of Steppe Civilizations” LLP.
