Project Title: IRN AR19677795 "Linguoecology as a Reflection of Ethnocultural Mentality of Residents in Northern Kazakhstan (Akmola, Pavlodar, Kostanay Regions)"

Actuality:The development of human relations with their cultural and natural-biological environment undergoes distinct stages; these relationships inherently encompass sensory, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral components to varying degrees. From our perspective, "destructive cults" as belief and perceptual systems in the ethnolinguistic-functional sense are incongruent with the internal and external environment of individuals.

The relevance of the project lies in turning to psycholinguistic analysis to study linguoculture, modeling linguoecology that reflects ethnocultural mentality in the territory of Northern Kazakhstan (Akmola, Pavlodar, Kostanay regions).

Objective: Analyze the dynamics of the development of national languages, identify ethnic and linguistic identification of individuals, and determine the ethnocultural mentality of residents in the Northern region of Kazakhstan.

Expected Results:

1. Publication

- articles in publications with a Cite Score percentile in the Scopus database of at least 35;

- at least 2 (two) articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed domestic publications recommended by KOKSNVO.

2 Determination of the dynamics of the functional development of languages in the region.

3. Publication of the monograph "Linguoecology as a reflection of ethnocultural

the mentality of Northern Kazakhstan".

4. Holding a conference with the participation of representatives of ethnic groups of Northern Kazakhstan.

Results obtained for the project in 2025:

Patterns of the use of derived personal names in speech genres of various types of representatives of ethnic groups in the Kostanay, Pavlodar, and Akmola regions have been identified.

It has been established that the transfer of lexemes from one subsystem of the language to another is a process that contributes to the expansion of the lexical composition. Most often, colloquial verbs acquire the status of conversational words actively used in everyday speech. Colloquial language can serve as a connecting link between dialects and the literary language. The role of colloquial speech and the structure of derived words in the construction of utterances was assessed. On March 31, 2025, at the Department of Kazakh and Russian Languages of the Faculty of Humanities of S. Seifullin KazATU, within the framework of the grant project AR19677795, a scientific-theoretical seminar was held on the topic “Lingvoecology as a Reflection of the Ethnocultural Mentality of the Inhabitants of Northern Kazakhstan.” The purpose of the event was to analyze the dynamics of the development of national languages and ethnocultural mentality in the Akmola, Kostanay, and Pavlodar regions. During the seminar, issues of lingvoecology as an interdisciplinary science were discussed, touching upon topics of linguistic and ethnic consciousness, cultural evolution, and linguistic forms of identity. Presentations were delivered by Akhmetova B.Z., Tleulesova A.Sh., and Balabaeva Zh.T. The seminar became an important platform for scientific dialogue between teachers and students, contributing to the formation of a holistic view of the linguistic and cultural situation in the region. As a result, participants noted the stability of interethnic relations and the preservation of ethnocultural uniqueness in the studied regions. The research team has carried out extensive work — collecting linguistic material (colloquial vocabulary, phraseological units, etc.).

The results of the study indicate a high level of psychological comfort among representatives of various ethnic groups living in the Kostanay, Pavlodar, and Akmola regions. Among the factors that have the greatest impact on social well-being in the region are the opportunity to communicate in one’s native language and access to one’s own culture.

The research team identified the features of ethnocultural mentality and the processes of rapprochement between classical and modern ethnocultures.

It was noted that under modern conditions, the mentality of the population of the Kostanay, Pavlodar, and Akmola regions is acquiring integrative traits. A gradual formation of a common civic identity is taking place, in which ethnic characteristics are preserved and respected.. The classical ethnocultural mentality of the region has been studied, shaped under the influence of traditional Kazakh culture as well as the cultures of various peoples: Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians, Germans, Tatars, Chechens, Koreans, and others. Key features include the preservation of ethnic identity while participating in the common sociocultural space; the predominance of collectivist values, respect for customs, and traditional family foundations; and the partial coexistence of cultures in parallel spheres without deep integration.

The modern stage is characterized by the deepening of interethnic interaction and the expansion of platforms for dialogue between cultures: strengthening interethnic harmony (through the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, ethnocultural centers), and cultural initiatives.

Each region carries out unique projects that unite representatives of different ethnic groups through cultural, educational, and social initiatives. The dynamics of the functional development of languages in the region have been identified. In the context of globalization, language serves as a key instrument of national identity, intercultural interaction, and integration into the global community.

The region’s language policy is aimed at preserving and developing national languages while simultaneously expanding opportunities for learning international languages. It is emphasized that language functions not only as a means of communication but also as a mechanism for consolidating society, shaping values, and preserving cultural heritage. P

The actual status of the state language has been determined in connection with the strengthening of other foreign languages (English, Chinese, Russian, etc.) in the globalized world.

The linguistic ecology of the region demonstrates a stable ethnocultural specificity, combining elements of normative language and local linguistic innovations, which highlights the need for further study of ethnolinguistic processes in the context of intercultural interaction. The study confirmed the relevance of the chosen topic and made it possible to formulate important provisions that may serve as the basis for deeper research.
