On May 30, 2024, representatives of the FAO Regional Office (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) in Hungary and the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office visited S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University at the Faculty of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. The delegation included communications specialists from the FAO Regional Office in Budapest Romano Mattia, FAO program analyst in Kazakhstan Samat Kairbekov, and FAO communications specialist Elvira Berdauletova.
Especially for this visit, the faculty organized an exhibition of EU Erasmus+ projects in the direction of sustainable development, which follow the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The following projects were presented at the exhibition: HWCA “Strengthening higher education in the water sector to ensure climate resilience and security in Central Asia”, SUSDEV “Lifelong learning for sustainable development”, NICoPA “New and innovative courses for precision agriculture”, SARUD “Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development” and SAGRIS “Improving Postgraduate Education in the Field of Sustainable Agriculture and Agricultural Systems of the Future” and UnWaste “Development of a Circular Economy in Partner Countries through the Development and Implementation of a Master’s Program in Waste Management”.
In addition to the projects, the exhibition presented materials from students of the Faculty of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment, who took part in the mega event “Kazakhstan Student Dialogue on Climate Change: Finding Solutions to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals” on November 23, 2023. Within its framework, for one month, three groups of our students worked under the guidance of British Ambassador Katie Leach, UNDP project expert Akmaral Agazhaeva, and FAO program analyst Samat Kairbekov. The teams presented the results of their fundamental research in the field of sustainable development in the form of statistics and infographics.
