On September 11, 2026, the V Republican Book Festival “KitapTime – 2026” was held at the National Academic Library with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The festival was aimed at promoting reading and encouraging young people to develop an interest in books and reading.
Students of the “Geodesy and Cartography” educational programme (03-074-26-11) took part in the event under the guidance of G.T. Omarova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Kazakh and Russian Languages of the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University.
The festival programme featured a book exhibition and publishing fair, handicraft workshops, a BookCrossing area, the official opening of a Reading Room for Teenagers, an international round table entitled “A Reading Generation: Modern Ways of Shaping the New Reader”, as well as the “Books to the Village” campaign.
The main goal of the festival was to promote a culture of reading, increase young people’s interest in spiritual and cultural values, introduce them to national and world literature, and contribute to the development of a new generation of readers.
University students took part in the book fair, workshops, intellectual games and book presentations, broadening their knowledge and horizons. The event helped foster students’ interest in reading and provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and engage in intercultural dialogue.
The “KitapTime – 2026” festival was a significant educational and cultural event that contributed to fostering a respectful attitude towards reading among young people and promoting national and global cultural values.
