1. Purpose of the educational program- Training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel for work in the field of agricultural biotechnology in research and production institutions of biological and agricultural profile, in breeding centers. 

Objectives of the educational program:

  • - training of highly qualified masters able to formulate and solve practical problems veterinary biotechnology;
  • - skills practical use immunological, biochemical, molecular genetic, breeding, statistical and other methods of biological and related Sciences in the creation of effective diagnostic, therapeutic preventive substances and feed additives;
  • - the formation of personal qualities of students as future specialists and/or the head of the scientific and production team.

2. General characteristics of the educational program (relevance, characteristics, competitive advantages, uniqueness, stakeholders, etc.)

Plant biotechnology is a new field of science and production, based on the use of in vitro cultivated plant cells. Cultivated plant cells by preserving the ability to synthesize characteristic of this type of valuable secondary metabolites used to create cell technologies with the aim of obtaining industrially economically important substances. A unique feature of cultured cells in vitro to regenerate a whole plant totipotency - ability to use them for micropropagation of plants and for the production of improved viruses for planting. Upon receipt of regenerated plants based biotechnological methods for genetic improvement of plants, facilitating and accelerating the breeding process. Therefore, the new educational program "plant Biotechnology" opens up completely new possibilities of genetics and genetic engineering of plants, expanding the genetic basis and the creation of fundamentally new forms of plants.

Educational program "plant Biotechnology" was developed in accordance with The NQF and professional standards, in accordance with the Dublin descriptors and the European frame of qualifications on the basis of the State obligatory standard of higher education, approved by order of the Minister of education and science of Kazakhstan from October 31, 2018 (no. 604) and in accordance with the classifier of areas of education and training with higher and postgraduate education (Approved by order of MES RK №569от 13 Oct 2018

The uniqueness of the program is development of various methods, techniques, schemes proceedings aimed at obtaining valuable substances on the basis of biological objects. Biotechnology is a synthesis of basic science and practices, so this program for the training of undergraduates in the field of "plant Biotechnology" is aimed at training specialists biologists biotechnologists, biotechnologists, breeders, capable of conducting fundamental biological research and implementation of obtained results into production.

The major stakeholders of EP are: agricultural enterprises, laboratories, processing, microbiological, industry, research institutes and centres, institutes of biology and biotechnology plant breeding station; laboratory for monitoring the quality and safety of agricultural products; environmental services and organizations.

3. Competence model (portrait) of the graduate

3.1 the Sphere of professional activity is the development of technologies cell and tissue cultures for micropropagation and improvement of plants, the experimental haploidy; the use of molecular and biochemical markers in plant breeding, genetic engineering of plants based on methods of cell and genetic engineering of plants, obtaining industrially valuable biologically active substances and biopreparations of vegetable and microbial origin, immunobiotechnology create diagnostic and preventive means of combating plant diseases.

to be able to: use knowledge of basic Sciences in my scientific work to solve specific research, information retrieval tasks; to choose methods and techniques of research (biotechnology, diagnostic, bacteriological, virological, other research methods); Knowledge and methods molecular biology and genetics and genetic engineering of plants by scientific research to know the methods of electrophoresis and chromatography isolation and purification of DNA and RNAmethods molecular genetic studies.

 

to have skills: ownership methods of assessment of agrophytocenosis and correction of technologies of cultivation of agricultural crops in various weather conditions, methods and means of diagnostics of plant diseases, including visual features, microscopic characteristics, using innovative methods of monitoring of plant facilities. to own fundamental biological knowledge in the field of plant biotechnology for the formulation and solution of new tasks; to correctly carry out field and laboratory biological research in solving specific problems in agricultural biotechnology with the use of modern instruments, methods molecular genetics, genetic engineering of agricultural plants and microorganisms, genomic and cellular technologies, micropropagation, cell selection of plants; knowledge of modern methods in plant breeding and crop production, processing industry and other fields of agriculture;
