The purpose of the educational program - improvement of professional competencies required to perform the labor functions of specialists in the field of crop protection in different agroecological conditions within the existing qualifications and in accordance with the requirements of training that meet the requirements of employers.. 

              Objectives of the educational program:

  1. The formation and development of social and professional competence, which allows to combine academic, professional, social and personal competences to solve problems in the field of professional and social activities; education in the spirit of patriotism, friendship of the peoples of the Republic of Kazakhstan, respect for different cultures, traditions and customs;
  2. The development of environmental thinking based on the system of value orientations of sustainable development of modern environmental management in order to properly solve environmental and resource problems in the field of agriculture;
  3. The formation of knowledge about the means and methods of plant protection, understanding the role of quarantine in stabilizing the phytosanitary situation and their role in creating a healthy living environment for humans, the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure the sustainable functioning of agrophytocenosis in modern conditions of agriculture;
  4. Formation of an active professional activity, setting tasks, working out and making decisions, planning and organizing the provision of activities, taking into account their social, environmental and economic consequences;
  5. Formation of skills of experimental research work, creative application of scientific achievements in the practice of agriculture.
  6. Formation of competitiveness of graduates in the labor market to ensure the possibility of the fastest possible employment in the specialty. otovnost graduate to the continuous professional and moral improvement and growth throughout life.

              General characteristics of the educational program

The educational program "Herbology" has been created on the basis of the request of employers due to the increased need for specialists who will have general cultural, professional and specialized competences in plant protection , contributing to its social mobility and demand for the labor market.

The educational program "Herbology" in the direction of training 7M081 Crop was developed in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework and the professional standard in plant protection and quarantine activities (Order of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 21, 2014 No. 20/58), agreed with the Dublin European Descriptors qualifications framework.

The educational program consists of 3 modules. In total, 60 credits are planned to be mastered, of which theoretical training assumes the mastering of 25 credits, 10 credits are allocated for practical training, a pilot student’s research work 13 credits and 12 credits for final certification.

Graduates who have mastered the educational program "Herbology" in their professional activities will be able to realize themselves in the public service in the field of phytosanitary safety; in all types of agricultural formations of crop profile; in the centers of phytosanitary diagnostics and forecasts; in quarantine laboratories; introduction and quarantine nurseries; control and Toxicological laboratories; in the laboratories of the biological method, biofactories; border quarantine posts; commercial firms that implement equipment and means of plant protection; companies for the production and formation of pesticides; firms for landscaping and landscape design; units for the elimination of particularly dangerous and quarantine organisms, i.e. in demand in all areas of the agro-industrial complex of the country.

Professional competencies

To have skills in the use of methods of recording and observing pests on crops, establishing the range of their distribution; practically apply modern chemical, biological means of protection, taking into account agrotechnical, selection and seed-growing activities; manage modern plant protection machinery and equipment; methods of phytosanitary examination of regulated objects;

To be competent: in conducting diagnostics of harmful organisms, including quarantine objects, crops; in carrying out the method of counting the number of harmful organisms; in the implementation of protective measures against pests, diseases and weeds on crops; in the implementation of the localization and liquidation of quarantine objects.
