Brief description of the scope of knowledge: One of the main objectives of the Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy: the new political course of the established state ”is Kazakhstan's becoming one of the 50 most competitive countries in the world through the use of innovative technologies in order to increase productivity and quality of manufacturing of industrial products. This task is realizable if there are highly scientific and highly professional personnel potentials, in particular in the field of "Mechanical Engineering".

The study program was developed jointly with professors from the University of California, Davis (USA) and taking into account the recommendations of leading experts in leading industrial enterprises, in accordance with the NQF and professional standards, it was agreed with the Dublin descriptors and the European Qualifications Framework, based on the State Compulsory Standard for Higher Education, doctoral studies, approved by the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 31, 2018 (No. 604), the classifier of specialties of higher and postgraduate education education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, educational-programmatic and methodological documentation, individual work plans of doctoral students and other documents approved in the prescribed manner.

General aim of EP «Mechanical engineering»  is to prepare competitive PhD doctors of a scientific and pedagogical direction, possessing modern competencies and skills, equipment and technologies that contribute to solving problems arising in industrial enterprises, specialized research and educational organizations by providing in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of technological machinery and equipment.

The field of professional activity of the Philosophy Doctor (Phd) of the Mechanical Engineering educational program includes:

•  all types of educational and science organizations;
• research and development organizations;
• production and psychological-pedagogical activity in organizations of secondary, higher and additional professional education in technical and agricultural areas, research, design organizations and in production;
• research activities in the field of education and production in the field of advanced training of workers in accordance with their specialization;
• educational, managerial and planning activities in accordance with the qualifications of Dr. PhD.

A doctor of this profile is preparing for activities in the field of material production, which includes a combination of means, methods and methods of human activity aimed at solving complex problems associated with the design, operation and repair of technological equipment.

The main focus of Dr. PhD 8D071 - “Engineering” specialization in “Mechanical Engineering” is:

• research work in the field of development and improvement of the designs of technological machines;
• complex mechanization, robotization and automation of technological machines and equipment and technological processes;
• the establishment and maintenance of optimal operating modes of technological machines and equipment;
• pedagogical work.

Brief description of direction: OP "Mechanical Engineering" is designed on the basis of a modular system of studying disciplines and consists of 5 modules that form general cultural and professional competencies, including the study of disciplines and modules of DB and PD, which is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary in nature, providing training at the junction of a number of areas of knowledge. The study of the cycle of basic disciplines (DB) is aimed at the formation of a set of fundamental knowledge in general professional and managerial disciplines, and the cycle of core disciplines (PD) is aimed at the formation of professional qualities in the field of "Mechanical Engineering"

Total number of loans - 180 credits (5400 academic hours)

1) the total number of credits for theoretical studies - 53 credits (1590 academic hours), including practice (teaching and research - 24 credits (720 academic hours);

2) research work, including the completion of a doctoral dissertation - 115 credits (3450 academic hours);

3) execution and defense of a doctoral dissertation - 12 credits (360 academician hours)

 All classrooms are equipped with digitalization systems of the educational process.

The EP is developed based on the analysis of the current and expected key professional competencies of PhD doctors, taking into account the requests of real and potential stakeholders of the EP, and the direct participation of the stakeholders themselves.
