Duration of training: 4 years 

  1. Purpose of the educational program - Training of competitive specialists of new formation, oriented on stable development of agricultural production, solving the problem of food security, high quality, organic food, recycling of agricultural production, restoration of soil fertility, development of biological products for veterinary, crop production. 

To achieve the above purpose ЕP formulated the following tasks:

  1. Formation of the basic professional competence of future specialists in the direction of biotechnology attracting employers and business partners.
  2. Training of future specialists, competent in questions of creation of new varieties of agricultural plants and animals using modern post-genomic and biotechnological methods;
  3. The implementation of social order of society for training of personnel sought through: the development of methods for genomic certification to improve the efficiency of selection and breeding work in livestock breeding; production of biopreparations for plant cultivation, veterinary biologics and diagnostics feed additives for farm animals.
  4. Ability to work with scientific and technical information, to use domestic and foreign experience in professional activity, to systematize and generalize the received information. 

2 General characteristics of the educational program (relevance, characteristics, competitive advantages, uniqueness, stakeholders, etc.)

"Educational program "Agricultural biotechnology" developed for the preparation of bachelors in the field of biology and related Sciences in accordance with one of the main principles of the Bologna Declaration: "from General to particular".

In the cycle of basic disciplines included components of the University's choosing, which give students the basic knowledge and skills necessary for further study of the cycle PD and mastering the basics agricultural, veterinary, industrial and food biotechnology. Graduates of this ЕP can, without any problems, continue training in a magistracy in all known areas of biotechnology.

Biotechnology today has become one of the main scientific and practical directions in this regard, the profession of biotechnology are becoming more and more important role in improving of yield and the economy as a whole. Implementation of the results of biotechnological research is primarily in the following areas of activities: improving animal health through biotechnology; new achievements of all living things with the help of biotechnology research; improving the quality of livestock products and plant biotechnology; achievements of biotechnology in environmental protection and the conservation of biological diversity

Educational program "Agricultural biotechnology" developed in accordance with The NQF and professional standards, in accordance with the Dublin descriptors and the European frame of qualifications on the basis of the State obligatory standard of higher education, approved by order of the Minister of education and science of Kazakhstan from October 31, 2018 (no. 604) and in accordance with the classifier of areas of education and training with higher and postgraduate education (Approved by order of MES RK №569от 13 Oct 2018

  • EP developed in conjunction with representatives of production, specialists research centers.

  • The presence of the research platform "Agricultural biotechnology", where students have the opportunity to do the analysis the basic structure biological products; to define the main components of raw materials and finished products; to develop and implement new biotechnological processes to examine the problems of source material for breeding plants, animals and microorganismsto explore aspects of selection of microorganisms, animals, plants; the experimental study of the properties and processes of vital activity of biological objects.
  • Training in multilingual groups and on the dual technology, i.e., the theoretical part of classes is held in the auditoriums of the University and practical classes are held on the basis of manufacturing enterprises.

  • The educational programme combined a whole system of interrelated courses taught famous scientists of the University and invited to this area by scientists from foreign Universities. The cycles of basic and professional disciplines added a number of elective courses and optional courses that from the beginning of training provides the student the opportunity to select their "individual trajectory".

The uniqueness of the program is that this program is designed taking into account the interdisciplinarity of the directions: manufacturing technology of biologics for veterinary use and crop production, the study of biotechnological methods of reproduction and breeding of agricultural animals and plants, development of diagnostic test systems, biotechnology in aquaculture, molecular biology, cellular technologies and bionanotechnology in agriculture. Such interdisciplinarity of the program will create favorable conditions for future graduates in employment and will implement, in the future, from the managerial point of view, interdepartmentality.

The sphere of professional activity of the biotechnologist covers such spheres as production of biologically active substances and processing of raw materials with use of microorganisms, enzymes, cell cultures of plants and animals; research activity in the main directions of modern biotechnology (genetic and cellular engineering, agricultural, industrial and veterinary biotechnology); environmental protection from pollution (biological treatment of sewage and polluted territories, utilization of industrial, household and agricultural wastes); teaching of biological cycle disciplines and additional special disciplines in educational institutions.

Graduates who have mastered the educational program "Biotechnology" can work: in companies, research institutions, engaged in agriculture, agriculture, food industry, processing of agricultural raw materials primarily using microorganisms, enzymes, cell cultures of plants and animals; health care; chemical, environmental and biochemical industries. 

Professional competence 

To know and understand the modern state of different branches of agricultural biotechnology, to know the basis of biotechnology, basic concepts and methods used in genetic and cell engineering; basics of biosafety when working with biological material principles of General epidemiology, infection, manufacturing technology of veterinary prophylactic and diagnostic biological products, methods of control, methods of genetic engineering used in the creation of diagnosticums and vaccines of new generation. to perform complex operations related to post-fusional technology, to obtained by hyperimmunization of animal-producers directions and methods animals biotechnology; molecular genetic, cell culture, embryogenesis and transplantation techniques, types of environmental contaminants; the processes of biological sewage treatment; basic principles of biotechnology to solve environmental problems, processes and apparatuses are based on different biotechnological production in their future professional activity and to use the knowledge of microorganisms are based on different microbiological production: obtaining food and fodder protein, immunobiological preparations, organic acids, alcohols, biologically active compounds.
