In 1957, the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University became the first institution in Kazakhstan to begin training mechanical engineers for the agricultural sector.
In 2015, pursuant to the decision of the University Academic Council of 15 May and Rector’s Order No. 265-N of 27 May, three departments were merged: ‘Technical Services’, ‘Mechanisation of Technological Processes’ and ‘Agricultural and Grain Processing Machinery’. The merger resulted in the formation of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, which is staffed by highly qualified specialists, many of whom hve made a significant contribution to its establishment and development.
Since 15 May 2015, the department has been headed by Kaspakov Esenaly Zhaksylykovich, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor.
On 2 September 2025, as part of further optimisation of the educational process, the departments of ‘Agricultural Engineering and Technology’, ‘Technical Mechanics’ and ‘Technological Machinery and Equipment’ were merged. As a result of the reorganisation, the ‘Agricultural Engineering, Mechanics and Metalworking’ Educational Programme Group (EPG) was established, with Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor EsenalyZhaksylikovich Kaspakov appointed as its head.
The teaching staff of the EPG comprises 56 lecturers, including: 8 Doctors of Science, 26 Candidates of Science, 10 senior lecturers, 9 PhD holders and 3 lecturers with a Master’s degree. Among the Doctors of Science, Professors D.Z. Eskhojin, M.A. Aduov and N.V. Kostyuchenkov are full members of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, whilst Professor S.O. Nukeshev is a full member of the Kazakh Academy of Natural Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The outstanding academic achievements of GOP’s researchers have been recognised by various public and research organisations.
The title of ‘Best Lecturer of the Year’ was awarded to:

• M.A. Aduov (2006, 2010);
• S.O. Nukeshev (2007, 2011);
• K.T. Sherov (2021);
• R.M. Iskakov (2020);

GOP lecturers — Eskhojin D.Z., Aduov M.A., Nukeshev S.O. and Akhmetov E.S. — are ranked among the top 50 best lecturers in Kazakhstan.
Professor S.O. Nukeshev is also:
• a recipient of the State Scientific Scholarship (2015, 2020);
• a laureate of the State Prize ‘Best Researcher’ (2021);
• holder of the title ‘Honoured Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan’ (2016);
• recipient of the ‘KurmetiMashinaJasaushy’ badge from the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2017).
With the aim of introducing and disseminating cutting-edge knowledge, as well as improving the quality of teaching, the department’s lecturers undertake overseas placements at leading universities and research centres in Turkey, Bulgaria, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, China, the USA, Poland, Belarus and Russia.
The main areas of activity of the Department are:
• training competitive specialists with a high level of theoretical and practical training, capable of working in the context of the digitalisation of the economy and technological modernisation;
• conducting priority research in the field of agricultural machinery, technologies and mechanical engineering;
• developing the professional competencies of future specialists in the fields of agricultural engineering and mechanical engineering.
The State Educational Programme ‘Agricultural Engineering, Mechanics and Metalworking’ has an annex to its licence to conduct educational activities under master’s and doctoral programmes, which allows bachelor’s degree graduates to continue their studies at the next levels of education.

Brief description of the field of application
Graduates of the ‘Agricultural Engineering’ programme pursue professional careers in the design, operation, maintenance and testing of agricultural machinery and technologies aimed at the mechanisation and automation of crop production processes. The scope of application of knowledge includes the development and improvement of working parts of soil cultivation and sowing machines, the conduct of laboratory and field tests, the assessment of the efficiency and reliability of machine-tractor units, as well as the introduction of resource-saving and environmentally safe technologies in the agro-industrial complex.
Graduates of the ‘Technological Machinery and Equipment (Mechanical Engineering)’ programme apply the knowledge gained during their studies to the field of agricultural engineering. They analyse the causes of disruptions in technological processes, develop measures to prevent them, and ensure the reliability of measurement results.
The demands of the labour market, against the backdrop of industrialisation and the digitalisation of the economy, and within the framework of the ‘Digital Kazakhstan’ State Programme, are shaping new requirements for the training of specialists, including the diversification and improvement of the quality of education. In this regard, the implementation of educational programmes is aimed at strengthening the research and fundamental components of the training of Bachelor’s degree students in engineering and technology, which is achieved by aligning educational programmes with leading foreign universities.

In the field of ‘Agricultural Engineering’
The focus of professional practice lies on the technical equipment, technological processes and production systems of the agro-industrial complex that facilitate the mechanisation, automation and digitalisation of agricultural production.
The main areas of focus include:
• agricultural machinery and equipment (tractors, self-propelled and trailed machinery, units and systems for soil preparation, sowing, crop care, application of fertilisers and plant protection products, harvesting and post-harvest processing);
• working parts and assemblies of machinery, and their structural components subject to design, modernisation, testing and evaluation of operational characteristics;
• machine-tractor units and machine fleets, and the processes involved in their assembly, adjustment, operation and maintenance;
• technological processes of mechanised crop production;
• testing, laboratory and diagnostic equipment (soil channels, test benches and instruments for studying the interaction of working parts with the soil, and for determining traction, energy and agrotechnical parameters);
• systems for the maintenance, repair and storage of machinery;
• means of mechanisation and automation, components of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic control systems;
• resource-saving and environmentally safe technologies;
• information and digital systems for monitoring and controlling agricultural processes.

The areas of professional activity include the agro-industrial complex and processing industries, government bodies, research organisations, enterprises of various forms of ownership, machine-building plants, food industry enterprises, as well as testing and inspection laboratories.
The main areas of focus include:
• machinery manufacturing facilities, process equipment, tooling, process fixtures and automation equipment;
• the development and design of process equipment;
• production and technological processes, the development and implementation of new technologies;
• systems for information, metrological, diagnostic and managerial support of product quality;
• methods and means of testing and quality control for mechanical engineering products;
• technical and regulatory documentation, standardisation and certification systems.
Competitive advantages and development
The competitive advantages of the ‘Agricultural Engineering’ and ‘Agricultural Machinery and Equipment’ degree programmes are confirmed by the rankings published by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Ranking (NAAR): over the past three years, these programmes have consistently ranked first in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, according to the rankings by the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, these programmes consistently hold leading positions and are among the best in the country in their field of study.
Furthermore, the educational programme in the field of ‘Agricultural Engineering’ has been accredited by ASIIN for a period of six years, which confirms the high quality of training and compliance with international standards for educational programmes.
On the recommendation of leading scientists from the University of California, Davis, an Agricultural Engineering Platform was established, comprising the ‘Production and Experimental Metalworking and Welding Workshop’ and the ‘Design Bureau’, both equipped with modern CNC machines.
The University maintains strong international ties with academic and industrial partners from the USA, Canada, Germany, China, the Republic of Korea, Poland, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Turkey, Belarus and the Russian Federation.
GOP lecturers actively collaborate with leading research centres in neighbouring and distant foreign countries. Agreements on creative and scientific cooperation have been concluded with the CLAAS Group (Germany), Xinjiang University of Technology (PRC), the University of Hohenheim (Germany), the Sofia University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (Bulgaria), the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, the All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanisation, as well as with Michurinsk State Agrarian University, Orenburg State University, South Ural State Agrarian University, Kurgan State University and the Chelyabinsk State Academy of Agricultural Engineering.
Teaching and Learning Facilities
To support the teaching process, conduct laboratory and practical sessions, and carry out research work, the State Agricultural University has 17 specialised teaching laboratories equipped with modern demonstration stands and examples of agricultural machinery, as well as six computer rooms located in university buildings No. 3 and No. 4. There are also 4 specialised centres in operation.

The S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University was the first in Kazakhstan to begin training mechanical engineers for the agricultural sector in 1957.
The history and achievements of the faculty are the result of many years of fruitful work by the staff of its departments.
The Department of Agricultural and Grain Processing Machinery was one of the oldest departments in the Faculty of Engineering. It was founded in October 1957 and was originally named the Department of Agricultural Machinery.
The department was established and headed from 1961 to 1975 by Senior Lecturer Nikolai Borisovich Bok, who later became a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and author of over 140 scientific papers and 40 inventions. Under his supervision, the following candidates successfully defended their dissertations: I.S. Tairyan, O.A. Cheremisov, B.N. Gurin, D.Z. Eskhozhin, O.F. Bezler, B.P. Rakov, L.N. Goncharova, A.I. Nuzhdov, V.A. Putilin, M.A. Aduev, O.M. Koshanov, A.I. Schneider and K.S. Zhusupov.
The department was headed over the years by:

• O.A. Cheremisinov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor (1975–1990);

Many of Professor N.B. Bok’s theoretical works were included in textbooks, study guides and reference publications.
During the period under review, the department taught the following subjects: agricultural machinery, operation of the machinery and tractor fleet, theory of mechanisms and machines, and mechanisation and electrification of agricultural production. In the late 1960s, the ‘Mechanisation of Livestock Farms’ department was separated from the department.
Between 1985 and 1999, the department was part of the Faculty of Engineering and Education and was a graduating department. Since 1997, it has been training specialists in the following fields:

In April 1959, the department was split into two:
• ‘Technical Mechanics and Technical Drawing’ (Head: L.N. Kupershtokh, Candidate of Technical Sciences);

In July 1959, the Department of ‘Metal Technology and Machine Repair’ was established, headed by Professor T.G. Dukhov.

Research work was conducted in two areas:
• until 1977 — on the ‘Problem of Higher Education’;
• thereafter — on the topic ‘Improvement of machine working parts in soil-conservation technology’.
From 1977, research was conducted primarily under state funding and commercial contracts.
As a result of the research work:
• seven PhD theses were prepared (K. Baitlesov, M.A. Aduov, L.N. Goncharova, T.K. Nurgaliev, S.O. Nukeshev, Zh.A. Syzdykov, E.S. Akhmetov);
• more than 40 author’s certificates for inventions were obtained;
• more than 200 scientific articles were published;
• more than 50 methodological guidelines were published;
• more than 20 textbooks and 20 teaching aids were prepared.
Every year, students prepared 20–25 papers for scientific conferences, half of which won prizes. Two works won republican competitions and one won a union-level competition.
Lecturers from the department undertook training placements at leading universities in the USSR: Moscow State University, the Moscow Architectural Institute, and the Kiev and Tomsk Polytechnic Institutes.
Graduates of the Faculty of Mechanisation held key positions in the national economy of Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries. Among them were:
• Hero of Socialist Labour V.K. Skryl;
• Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR N.V. Geller;
• Head of the Traffic Police of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs B.A. Koryakovtsev;

Department of Process Machinery and Equipment
The Department of Process Machinery and Equipment was established in July 1959 on the basis of the Department of Metalworking Technology and Machine Repair. The first head of the department was T.G. Dukhov, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
In 1962, the department was split into two separate departments:
‘Metal Technology’;
‘Machine Repair’.
The Department of Metal Technology was headed by the following individuals over the years:

In 2015, by decision of the University Academic Council (dated 27 May, No. 265-N), through the merger of the departments of ‘Technical Service’, ‘Mechanisation of Technological Processes’ and ‘Agricultural and Grain Processing Machinery’, the Department of ‘Agricultural Engineering and Technology’ was established.
From 2 September 2025, as a result of further optimisation of the educational process, the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, the Department of Technical Mechanics and the Department of Technological Machinery and Equipment were merged. This led to the formation of the ‘Agricultural Engineering, Mechanics and Metalworking’ group of study programmes.

The department conducted classes at the faculties of Agricultural Mechanisation, Agricultural Electrification and the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy in the following subjects: strength of materials, machine components, lifting and transport machinery, and technical and theoretical mechanics.
The department had four specialised lecture theatres, equipped with apparatus and visual aids. Laboratory sessions were supported by teaching materials developed by the department.
Research work was carried out in the areas of improving the reliability of agricultural machinery and biomechanics. The majority of the research was carried out under commercial contracts, and some of the results were implemented at enterprises and agricultural organisations in Northern Kazakhstan.
Seven PhD theses were defended based on the results of this research, two of which (by V.I. Bondarenko and K.A. Koyshubaev) were completed without the authors taking a leave of absence from their work.

Research work at the department is carried out within the following priority research area:
The research area ‘Development and improvement of machinery systems for water-saving technologies in cereal crop cultivation’. Since 2009, within this area and as part of state-funded programmes under the leadership of Professor M.A. Aduov, researchers at the Department have implemented more than 10 projects funded by grants from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and others. Experimental machine prototypes have been developed:
• A seed drill with a group seeding mechanism and a spreader coulter.
• A soil cultivation implements for the simultaneous application of mineral fertilisers.
• A seed drill for subsoil broadcast sowing of cereal crops with simultaneous application of mineral fertilisers.
• An experimental prototype of a seed drill for sowing cereal crops with simultaneous application of mineral fertilisers, using water-saving crop cultivation technology.
• A seed drill with an intelligent control unit for the sowing process of non-free-flowing grass seeds.
Notable results in the development of machinery for in-soil differentiated application of mineral fertilisers within the precision farming system have been achieved by Dr S.O. Nukeshev, Professor of Technical Sciences. Under his leadership, scientists at the State Agricultural Research Institute have implemented over 13 projects funded by grants from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and others, and developed experimental prototypes of machinery, a suite of technologies and technical equipment:
• Machine for in-soil application of mineral fertilisers and pre-sowing soil treatment;
• Technology and machine for in-soil application of mineral fertilisers within a coordinate-based farming system;
• An automated cultivator-fertiliser spreader for differentiated application of mineral fertilisers with a central seeding system (based on the OP-8);
•A chisel-type fertiliser spreader for inclined-tiered differentiated application of mineral fertilisers;
• Chisel fertiliser for applying the main dose of mineral fertilisers under zero-till conditions;
• Software and control unit for the automated technological process of differentiated application of seeds and fertilisers within the adopted positioning system;
• Technology for the in-soil, differentiated, three-layer application of mineral fertilisers and a fertiliser applicator for its implementation;
• Automated grain, manure and grass seed drill for the differentiated direct sowing of agricultural crops under cover crops and into turf with simultaneous fertiliser application;
• NC – SU – 2 (VRT) fertiliser application differentiation management and control system;
• Chisel cultivator with an autonomous hopper and a fertiliser dose differentiation system.
Under the supervision of Professor N.V. Kostyuchenkov, experimental machine prototypes have been developed:
• A unit has been developed for preparing the field for harvesting and carrying out research work without the use of a transport unit;
• A physical model of a head cabbage plant has been developed, enabling the recording of the forces exerted by the working parts on the cabbage plant via an oscillogram, along with a method for determining the elastic modulus of the cabbage stalk using ultrasonic vibrations;
• A mounted cabbage harvester, the NKM 1, has been developed, designed to be coupled with 14 and 20 kN tractors;
• A cabbage harvester with a table for processing heads into marketable form has been developed;
• A mower with a chain cutting mechanism has been developed.
All these developments have been tested in the fields of agricultural enterprises in the Northern and Central regions of Kazakhstan.

According to data from the State Pension Centre, the employment rate for 2025 graduates of the ‘Agricultural Engineering’ and ‘Agricultural Machinery and Equipment’ programmes was as follows: 83% for bachelor’s degree holders and 100% for master’s degree holders.

Every year, graduates of the educational programmes continue their studies at master’s level in relevant fields, both at the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University and at leading foreign universities in Germany and China.
Alongside staff training, the GOP team devotes considerable attention to the development of research activities and enhancing their effectiveness. The research groups and scientific projects are led by Dr M.A. Aduova, S.O. Nukeshev, N.V. Kostyuchenkov, K.T. Sherov, as well as R.M. Iskakov, G.A. Kokaev (PhD in Engineering), K.G. Isenova (PhD) and A.A. Sagitova (PhD).
The results of research activities are being implemented in industry and reflected in postgraduate research. In total, 3 doctoral theses, 9 candidate theses and 15 PhD theses have been successfully defended.
Partnerships in the study and application of modern foreign agricultural technology.
Joint scientific research and the preparation of scientific publications are being carried out within the framework of projects with the Islam Karimov Tashkent State Technical University, the Navoi State University of Mining and Technology and the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology (Uzbekistan), as well as with AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland).
Future plans include:
launching a dual-degree programme with North-West University of Agriculture and Forestry (PRC) under the 7M07106 Master’s programme in ‘Mechanical Engineering’;
the creation of a joint educational programme (JEP) with the Islam Karimov Tashkent State Technical University or the Navoi State Mining and Technology University (Uzbekistan) under the Master’s programme 7M07106 — ‘Mechanical Engineering’.
Faculty members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are undertaking professional development courses: Senior Lecturer I.K. Mamyrbaeva of the Department undertook a training placement in Norwich, UK, from 1 to 13 June 2014. In Düsseldorf, Germany, Professor Y.A. Nabi of the department undertook a training placement at the International Academy of Finance, Management and Technology from 28 June to 13 July 2014. In 2015, Professor S.O. Nukeshev undertook a training placement under the ‘Bolashak’ programme in Leicester, UK. In 2025, M.T. Userbaev, PhD in Engineering, undertook a training placement under the ‘Bolashak’ programme in Bremen, Germany. Professors M.A. Aduov and A.I. Chernyavsky delivered courses at BSTU for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The widespread integration of modern foreign agricultural machinery into the agricultural sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents new challenges for agricultural universities in the field of training engineering and technical personnel for its operation and maintenance. The S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, seeking to address this pressing issue, has concluded cooperation agreements in the scientific and educational sphere with CLAAS (Germany), the representative of JOHN DEERE in Kazakhstan – Eurasia Group LLP, the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) and Dairymaster.
Representatives from CLAAS and JOHN DEERE organise weekly seminars every year, invite students and academic staff to Field Days, and conduct training sessions for lecturers as well as delivering lectures to master’s and doctoral students on the ‘Agricultural Engineering’ and ‘Technological Machinery and Equipment’ programmes.
In addition, the companies provide equipment and teaching materials for interactive learning free of charge;
‘JOHN DEERE’ – a JOHN DEERE 5080M tractor, cutaway models of the combine harvester’s transmission and axles, and has equipped a separate lecture theatre.
‘Dairymaster’ – a milking parlour equipped with computer software and exhibition stands for student training.

- the TELEMATICS remote service system – which provides online access to all operational data and electrical systems;
- visual aids and animated videos on CLAAS machinery;
- a working model of the hybrid threshing and separation unit of the CLAAS LEXION combine harvester, which combines two effective technologies: the APS tangential threshing system and the ROTO PLUS separation system;
- S7 and S10 monitors for the EASY control system and GPS PILOT precision steering, which help reduce losses and increase productivity.
Since 2000, Sergey Butov, the official representative of ‘CLАAS-Academy’, has visited our institute annually to conduct training sessions with lecturers to discuss research opportunities and to deliver lectures to Master’s and PhD students at the State Agricultural University.

Since 2009, KATU has been collaborating with nine higher education institutions in the Republic of Belarus.
In 2009, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University (BSATU). Under the memorandum, five lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering undertook professional development courses, and 45 master’s students completed research placements.
In 2011, cooperation agreements were signed with the Belarusian State University, Brest State Technical University, Belarusian State Technological University, the Scientific and Practical Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanisation, and the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine of the Order of the Badge of Honour.
As part of the external academic mobility programme, since 2013, more than 400 students studying ‘Technological Machinery and Equipment’ and ‘Agricultural Machinery and Technologies’ have completed a semester of study at BSTU.
In 2013, cooperation agreements were signed with the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. Under these agreements, 25 postgraduate students undertook research placements at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.
In 2013, the ‘Kazakhstan-Belarus Centre for the Training and Retraining of Engineering Personnel’ (the Centre) was opened at KATU. The Centre’s main objective is to enable students to study new Belarusian machinery and to retrain agricultural specialists to work with the new machinery being introduced.
To equip the Centre, in March 2013 the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan presented KATU with an educational exhibit – a scale model of the ‘Belarus-80X’ and ‘Belarus-3522’ in cross-section, as well as a working wheeled tractor from Belarus Trading House LLP, the ‘Belarus-2022’.

As part of the programme to invite visiting professors from abroad, four lecturers from BSTU delivered courses at KATU. In December 2012, Vladimir Nikolaevich Dashkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor at BSTU, gave lectures on the course ‘Advanced Techniques for the Implementation of Innovative Energy-Saving Technologies in Agricultural Production’. In October 2013, Nikolai Konstantinovich Tolochko, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Professor at BSTU, delivered lectures on the course ‘Nanotechnologies in the Agro-Industrial Complex’. In 2015, two professors from BSTU: Leonid Mikhailovich Akulovich and Leonid Efimovich Sergeev gave lectures to students specialising in ‘Technological Machinery and Equipment’ and ‘Agricultural Machinery and Technologies’.
Joint scientific research is being conducted, and joint authoring teams have been formed to develop teaching and methodological literature. Thesis projects are being carried out on the improvement of working parts, assemblies and components of machinery. As a result of this collaboration, four textbooks, six study guides and over 40 scientific articles have been published, and more than 50 joint patents have been obtained.
A team of students from the Faculty of Engineering took part for the first time in the International Olympiad for students of higher education institutions specialising in agriculture, focusing on agricultural machinery manufactured by enterprises in the Republic of Belarus, and came second among teams from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. This is clear evidence of the students’ keen interest in Belarusian agricultural machinery.
International cooperation is a vital component of the department’s activities. It showcases the department’s work and sets the standards of global leaders in the study of cutting-edge trends and new knowledge, without which modern education would be inconceivable. The main areas of the Department’s work in the field of international cooperation are:
- carrying out activities to expand and strengthen international contacts and cooperation, as well as enhancing interaction with international and regional organisations, foreign universities, foundations and programmes;
- organising mutual exchanges of lecturers and students whilst developing agreements and draft programmes for long-term cooperation with partner universities abroad;
- inviting domestic and foreign academics to deliver lectures, conduct masterclasses and organise research projects.
As part of the academic mobility programme, every year third- and fourth-year students from the department undertake a 6–7-month agricultural placement in Lienen, Germany, under the ‘LOGO e.V.’, ‘AgrarKontakte’ and ‘DEULA-Nienburg’ programmes. In 2024, nine students undertook placements, of whom three were on the ‘AgrarKontakte’ programme and six on the ‘LOGO e.V.’ programme.

In 2023, 19 students completed their placements, of whom 7 were on the ‘LOGO e.V.’ programme and 12 on the ‘DEULA-Nienburg’ programme. In 2025, 9 students undertook work placements, of whom 5 were on the ‘LOGO e.V.’ programme and 4 on the ‘DEULA-Nienburg’ programme. During their placements abroad, students apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in practice by working with agricultural machinery and equipment, gaining experience and enhancing their knowledge.
Also, within the framework of the Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on the Provision of Educational Services within the Framework of Academic Mobility Programs between the Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S. Seifullin and the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University (Republic of Belarus), from 2013 to 2020, a total of 400 students completed a semester of training at BSATU and completed industrial training at the Minsk Tractor Plant and industrial training at the Gomselmash OJSC plant in Gomel, Belarus.

Since 2009, the "Attracting Foreign Scholars to Kazakhstani Universities" program has been implemented in Kazakhstan. It aims to internationalize education, promote the active implementation of the Bologna Process, enhance the university's competitiveness, foster an attractive public image, and promote the development of academic communication skills among students and faculty.
As part of this "Attracting Foreign Scholars to Kazakhstani Universities" program, the department annually invites scholars from leading universities to deliver lectures, conduct consultations, and seminars, as well as to serve as academic supervisors for doctoral students. Inviting scholars from abroad allows students to develop their competencies through new knowledge and teaching methods from an international perspective. Specialists are also invited to support the professional development of the department's faculty and provide consultations on various academic and scientific issues. Every year, leading foreign and domestic scientists and specialists are invited to give lectures: Professor Shrini K. Upadhyaya (University of California, Davis, USA), Professor Peter Enders (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany), General Designer of Claas grain harvesters Thomas Barrelmeyer, as well as Professors Hubert August Korte and Dieter Trautz from Hochschule Osnabrück (Germany).
Doctors of Engineering, Professors Leonid Mikhailovich Akulovich, Leonid Efimovich Sergeev, and Vladimir Nikolaevich Dashkov (Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University) lectured on the course "Advanced Technology for the Implementation of Innovative Energy-Saving Technologies in Agricultural Production" for first-year master's students and third- and fourth-year undergraduate students.
Lectures were also given by: Temel Sariyildiz (Kastamonu University, Turkey), Farah Saleena Taip (Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia), Jacek Cieślik, Marcin Kot, and Michał Bembenek (AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland), Dimitar Petkov Karaivanov (University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Bulgaria), and Artem EvgenievichArtyukhov (Sumy State University, Ukraine).
Work is underway to expand international cooperation with higher education institutions in neighboring and distant countries, such as the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland), the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (Bulgaria), the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany), the University of California, Davis (UC Davis, USA), Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University (Belarus), Kastamonu University (Turkey), and Putra University (Malaysia), among others.
Based on signed agreements on international cooperation in education and science, department staff have completed advanced training and internships at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, the University of California, Davis, and the AGH-UST Krakow University of Science and Technology. As part of the Ministry's implementation of the Concept for the Development of Science and Higher Education in the Country for 2023-2029, Michal Bembenek, Professor of the Department of Manufacturing Systems, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, AGH, Krakow University of Science and Technology (Poland), visits our institute annually. He has conducted practical classes and lectured to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students at our institute. He advises master's and doctoral students on their dissertations and shared with the faculty of the GOP the specifics of publishing research articles in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.

Educational work with students is an integral part of high-quality specialist training and is conducted with the aim of instilling active citizenship in students, preserving and enhancing moral, cultural, and scientific values in the context of modern life, developing constructive behavior in the labor market, and upholding the traditions of the university and department. To achieve these goals, the following objectives are addressed:
• conditions are created for effective interaction between all participants in the educational process (joint events are held for students and academic group supervisors);
• conditions are created for developing positive student attitudes toward themselves and the world around them (trainings, quizzes, and roundtables aimed at understanding students' inner worlds are held);
• junior students successfully adapt to the educational process;
• talented students are identified and supported in every possible way (work is organized according to the university's research plan);
• the level of student adaptation to the modern labor market is improved;
• Activities aimed at preventing and overcoming deviations in students' social development (actively involving students in extracurricular activities) are carried out;
• Favorable conditions for living and independent work are created in student dormitories (curators visit academic groups according to the approved schedule).
Students actively participate in annual events: "First Student Autumn," the spring festival "Nauryz," amateur art performances, "Student Spring," and Spartakiads. They also win prizes in subject Olympiads. Curators, together with their curatorial groups, actively participate in sports, physical education, and health activities at the university and in the city.
The main forms of curatorial work with academic groups are consultations on all academic issues during curatorial hours. Curators organize excursions, festive evenings, individual work with students, and the participation of young people in events held at the university, in the city, and in the region.


Students also receive individual support and consultations from their advisors when choosing their individual study path, selecting specific courses, and addressing general academic issues. To enhance our specialty and engage students in modern technology, we hold annual Olympiads in "Machine Parts," "Robotics," and "John Deere Technology in Kazakhstan." These Olympiads are organized to enable students to master modern technology and combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. The best student papers were submitted to university and national research competitions. Many of the students who won prizes in these competitions were awarded certificates and valuable gifts.

During the 2025-2026 academic year, a friendly basketball tournament was held between Astana universities. Six of the capital's best universities participated.
Teams from NU, MNU, and APEMS competed in Group A, while teams from KAZATU, ENU GOTEBELES, and AITU competed in Group B.
Our team, KAZATU, took first place. The team included fourth-year student Mukhammed Bakirov from Group 06-064-20-08.


The university hosted a "Brain Ring" game among students, organized by the Department of Emergency Situations. The game's goal is to foster students' immunity to corruption, a culture of integrity, moral development, and increased youth participation. Students from the Faculty of Engineering, team "A-TWO," led by Beknazar Volzhsky, won first place. The team also included 1st year students of group 06-064-23-06 Iles Zhusipbek, Zhaksylykova Shugyla and Tanzharyk Duman.

Student of group 06-064-21-07 Zhumatayev Ali took 3rd place in the Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in rugby-7 among men's teams (major league), 2022 season.


Student of group 06-724-18-11, Ayazov Amal, is a player for the Astana football club and won silver in the Kazakhstan Premier League with his team.


Students of 3-4 courses of specialty "Agrarian engineering and technology" annually participate in subject Olympiads among students of higher educational institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On 18-19 April 2019 in Almaty on the basis of KazNAU the XI Republican Student Subject Olympiad was held. Students of 3 and 4 courses of speciality "Agrarian engineering and technology" took part in the Olympiad: A.J. Miramov, Kurmakazy Ә. and Tastanova M.D. Student Miramov A.J. was awarded a diploma of 2nd degree.
The aim of the subject Olympiads in the speciality "Agrarian Engineering and Technology" is to attract students and young scientists to the solving of scientific problems of our time and to develop an interest in scientific activity.
For the best student work on the topic "John Deere Technology in the Republic of Kazakhstan" took:
On 20-23 April 2023 in Almaty on the basis of KazNAU the XI Republican Student Subject Olympiad was held. The students of 3 and 4 courses of speciality "Agrarian engineering and technology" took part in the Olympiad: A.J. Miramov, Kurmakazy Ә. and Tastanova M.D. Student Miramov A.J. was awarded a diploma of 2 and 3 degrees.
Since 2015, the following foreign scientists read lectures and conducted practical classes on the disciplines of bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies at the Department of "Agrarian Engineering and Technology" of the Technical Faculty within the framework of the programme "Attraction of foreign scientists to the universities of RK": Shrini K. Students of the department "Agrarian machinery and technology" in the period from 2013 to 2016 annually underwent practical training at the plant JSC "Gomselmash" (Republic of Belarus), participated in the assembly of grain harvesting machinery, visited the permanent exhibition of machinery production PO "Gomselmash", as well as familiarize themselves with the process of its production.
In December 2012, Vladimir Dashkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of BGATU, gave lectures on the course "Progressive equipment for implementation of innovative energy-saving technologies of agricultural production" for undergraduates of the 1st year and for bachelors of the 3rd and 4th year.
In October 2013, Nikolay KonstantinovichTolochko, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of BGATU, lectured on the course "Nanotechnologies in agro-industrial complex" for bachelors of 3rd and 4th year.
In 2015, 2 professors of BGATU: Akulovich Leonid Mikhailovich Akulovich and Leonid EfimovichSergeev delivered lectures for KATU students for bachelors of the 3rd and 4th year.
From 23 to 28 October 2017 at the Department of "Agrarian Engineering and Technology", were invited: the general designer of the company CLASS on combine harvesters Thomas Barrelmeyer, and two professors Hubert August Korte and Dieter Trautz from the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, Federal Republic of Germany to give lectures.
10 students from the University of Osnabrück came together to exchange experiences.
In 2018, from 24 November to 23 December, from 24 November to 23 December, lectures and practical classes on the course "Problems of creating machining machines and equipment" were given for master's and doctoral students of the 1st year and for bachelors of the 3rd, 4th year of speciality5B(6M/6D)072400 "Technological Machines and Equipment" by Professor KarayivanovDimitarPetkov of the Chemical-Technological and Metallurgical University (Bulgaria).
From 19 October to 2 November 2018, Lukasz Lowinski, senior expert of the department of testing and development of tillage and agricultural harvesting machines of the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Engineering Poznan (Poland), lectured and conducted practical classes on the course "Modern information technology in the agricultural sector" for master's students of the 1st year and for bachelors of the 3rd, 4th year.
From 6 to 14 April 2022 and from October 10 to November 7, 2023, Michal Bembenek - Professor of the Department of Production Systems, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics AGH, University of Science and Technology Krakow (Poland) gave lectures, practical classes for bachelors and masters students of educational programs of the Faculty of Engineering and consulted doctoral students, faculty of the Faculty of Engineering.
Every year in September and December the head of the project EEU ACADMY representative of the company CLASS GRUP (Germany) Butov S.V. conducts two-week trainings for faculty members of the department and reads lectures for students of 2-3 courses.

On the basis of the Department there are 3 international center located in the new building of Technical Faculty:
Kazakh-Belarusian Center was established in 2013, and is actively developing its activities in the direction of training. The center includes pavilions for machinery, which posted tractors of the Minsk Tractor Factory with mounted implements and combine harvesters co-production.

Section of the tractor MTZ-3522, prepared by the Minsk Tractor Factory was received for the center as training layout and also for practical training two laboratories for animal feed and preparing mechanization were created.
Kazakh-Chinese Center for Agricultural Mechanization was established in July 15, 2014 as a result of the official ceremony of signing a cooperation agreement between the Kazakh Agro Technical University named after Saken Seyfullin and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Xinjiang Agricultural University.

Today, within the framework of funded research for 2015-2017 years the researches are conducting on targeted funding by the program 255 «Creating the conditions for the development of production, processing, realization of crop production" of the Ministry of Agriculture on the theme "Stubble seeder and fertilizer with a separate application of seed and fertilizers", also on the program 217 "Science development", subprogram 102 "Grant funding for research" of the Ministry of Education and Science on the theme "Development of drills with combined coulters."In the research project team (head Prof. Aduov MA) students, undergraduates, doctoral students and young scientists of the department are actively involved.
