Today the delegation of Ataturk University from Erzurum (Turkey) has visited Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University. Ataturk University Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomakli, Coordinator for International Affairs of Ataturk University, Prof. Dr. Taşkin Öztaş, as well as the manager of Ataturk University Erasmus office Pinar Uçak have arrived with the intention of establishing close cooperation with KATRU.

Welcoming the guests, Chairman of the Board – KATRU Rector, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Kanat Tireuov has introduced them the principles and objectives of our university:

KATRU, using the international standard of project management, has begun the process of transforming the university into a world-class university since November 2022. The main goal is to enter the top 500 leading universities in the world. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the team, the university takes worthy positions in the world’s largest university rankings.”

Kanat Maratovich dwelled in detail on the already established work with Turkish partners:

KATRU continues and intends to further strengthen international contacts with Turkish universities, expanding the network of partners and participating in international projects. I would like to especially note the conclusion of an agreement on the training of specialists under a double-diploma agreement on the educational program “Forestry” with Karadeniz Technical University. Work is currently underway to introduce the educational program into the national Register of educational programs of Kazakhstan.

Our university actively cooperates with universities and research centers in Turkey. We are working together with 10 partners in Turkey, developing cooperation in the field of joint training of master's and doctoral students.

In October 2023, with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kapucu and his colleagues, we held a round table dedicated to the development of grain farming in our countries, including the production of durum wheat varieties.

In January 2024, the Vice Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey Ebubekir Gizligider, visited our university together with colleagues and representatives of the Board of Directors of the Sub Union of Seed Industrialists and Producers (TSÜAB) and the Turkish Embassy in Kazakhstan.

Cooperation with partners from Turkey is also carried out in researchs in agronomy, grain breeding, environmental protection, natural resource management, including water management.

Istanbul Veterinary University has become an important strategic partner of our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Technology. We are proud to announce that our doctoral students, under the guidance of Prof. Ali Aydin, are successfully carrying out their research.

Doctoral students of our university specializing in Forestry also actively participate in the scientific internship program at Kastamonu University under the guidance of Prof. Sezgin Ayan. This experience not only expanded their professional skills, but also gave them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the field of study. Our master's students also take an active part in international exchanges. Master's student in Forestry Sharip Torebi successfully completed a scientific internship at Kastamonu University, which gave him valuable experience and new prospects for his future career.

In addition, we have upcoming internship programs for Bolashak in Turkish universities. We are confident that this initiative will further benefit our students by broadening their professional horizons and enriching their experience.”

The KATRU administration has listened with a deep interest the Rector of Ataturk University, Dr Ömer Çomakli, who spoke about his university, which, by the way, is the same age as ours: it was also founded in 1957. It was in Erzurum, where the university is located, that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk proclaimed Declaration of Independence of Turkey. For this reason, the university was immediately named after the founder of the new state. The scale of this educational institution is confirmed by the fact that students study in 22 faculties, 18 colleges, 8 institutes and 30 research centers.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Education and Research and exchanged souvenirs. At the same time, KATRU Chairman of the Board – Rector presented his Turkish colleague with Saken Seifullin medal.
