On June 15, 2018, a delegation from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) headed by Mr. Qing Yan, Director of Bureau for the development of science and technology, CAS visited the S. Seifullin Kazakh AgrOn June 15, 2018, a delegation from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) headed by Mr. Qing Yan, Director of Bureau for the development of science and technology, CAS visited the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University (further - KATU) within the framework of the project between China and Kazakhstan to lay a Botanical garden in the territory of Tselinograd district on the basis of the agricultural and field work of campus KATU.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with the international activities of the university, including academic and scientific issues, as well as discussion of issues on agriculture, in particular in the areas of forestry, green technologies, and digitalization of agriculture.
The vice-rector for scientific and innovation activities Tokbergenov I.T in his welcoming speech, thanked the guests for their interest in our university and in detail acquainted with the international activities of KATU, noted that cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in all spheres of industry, including education and science in agriculture, is developing dynamically. To date, KATU closely cooperates with leading universities of China, namely, with Xinjiang Institute of ecology and geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, North-West agriculture and forestry University, Harbin veterinary research institute and jointly implement projects for the development of agriculture with other research centers.
In his turn, Mr. Xu Xinwen Professor of the Institute of ecology and geography, CAS thanked for the warm welcome, and acquainted with the international activities of Chinese Academy of Sciences, also he noted that KATU was among the leading universities in Kazakhstan that will be involved in project on further development of partnership relations between universities of China and Kazakhstan.
The Parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the framework of the project on digitalization of agriculture, at the end of the meeting, the Parties signed Memorandum of understanding to jointly carry out work on digitalization of agriculture, forestry. Parties exchanged memorable gifts.
The meeting of the delegation continued with a visit to the scientific centers of KATU, in particular, the Chinese center of agricultural mechanization, GIS technology center, Kazakh-Chinese center of science and education, laboratory of soil science and RSE "Zhasyl Aimak", arboretum "AK Kayyn" in the area of Kosshy village.
On the next day of the meeting on June 16, 2018, for delegation was organized an excursion to the LLP "Kazakh research Institute of forestry and agroforestry" which located in Shchuchinsk town.
