The project is aimed at development of lifelong learning programmes, providing enhancement of green skills of different target groups, as well as for three different subject fields, closely related to the quality of life (ecology, food science and landuse management) The more general aim of the project - "Enhancement of the role of Higher Education Institutions in ensuring sustainable development of industry and society".

The objectives of the programme are:

  1. Development of modules to foster green skills for different target groups and qualifications levels;
  2. Enhancement of access of target groups to open education resources, promotion of LLL;
  3. Enhancement of green culture and continuing education through training of teaching staff, external stakeholders and public administration.

The fifth international summer school «Forest sector in the green economy»

This is the fifth time that the International Summer School «Forest sector in Green Economy», June 11-23, 2018. The Summer School was dedicated to the project of the European Union Erasmus + SUSDEV "Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Development", implemented in the department. There were a lot of participants this year. They are master students of S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, Artvin Choruh University (Artvin, Turkey), Karadeniz Technical University (Trabzon, Turkey), Azerbajan State Agrarian University (Ganja, Azerbajan), Ural State Forest- Engineering University (Yekaterinburg, Russia),  Zaural State University (Tumen, Russia), A. Baitursynov Kostanay State University, S. Toraigyrov Pavlodar State University, Shakarim State University in Semei.

At the opening of the summer school, employers were present and made speeches: Mukanov B.M., Director of Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Forestry; Varnykov E.V., vice- director of the Republic Selection Center; Kozhakov A.M., Vice-director of the College of Ecology and Forestry; Orazalin Sh.Sh., senior researcher of the Department of science and tourism of the SNNP “Buarabay”.

With welcoming words to the participants of the fifth International Summer School addressed G.Zh. Stybayev, Dean of Agronomy Faculty of S. Seifullin KATU and D.N. Sarsekova, the Head of Forest Resources and Forestry Department.

Ludek Sisak, Professor of Czech University of Life Sciences, Bulent Turgut, Professor of Artvin Choruh University (Turkey, Dani Sarsekova and Sara Kitaibekova from S. Seifullin KATU delivers lectures in English.  

The summer school is an intensive two-week course for Master students which allow to gain new knowledge, consolidate existing ones, acquire skills in research work.

The main forms of work within the framework of the International Summer School are lectures, practical seminars at SNNP “Burabay”, the dendrological park of KazSTIF, the Northern Branch of the Republican Selection Center and the dendrological park of the College of Ecology and Forestry, which is celebrating this year 120 years. For the participants of the International Summer School, it is planned to hold cultural events - traditions and customs of Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan; various competitions, a round table, excursions  round Shchuchinsk-Borovskoi resort zone. Organizer of the Fifth International Summer School: “Forest Resources and Forestry” Department of Agronomy Faculty of S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University.

Professional Club of spoken English “Green Future”

On the 18th of April, 2018 S.Seifullin KATU held the opening of the Professional Club of spoken English “Green Future”, in the framework of the European Union Erasmus + project “Lifelong learning for sustainable development”. Improving the professional English language in the field of green economy, green skills is the goal of the Club. Students, teachers of agricultural specialties will take part in the Club meeting, as well as employers and foreign specialists will be invited.

A welcoming speech was made by A.K. Kurishbayev, Chairman of the Board, I.T. Tokbergenov, Vice Rector, Head of the Center for Science and Innovation, Catherine Pellier and Emanuel Madieta, lecturers at the Angers High Agricultural School, who delivered lectures in the framework of the EU Erasmus + project “International Credit Mobility” and D.N. Sarsekova, the Head of Forest Resources and Forestry the Department. S.O. Kitaibekova, senior lecturer of “Forest Resources and Forestry” Department is the initiator of the opening of the Club.
