The Department of Philosophy

 

The Department of Philosophy is a professional creative team engaged in the formation of personal and professional culture, critical thinking, patriotism, high political consciousness and culture among students and undergraduates, as well as the education of a socially active personality with humanistic values.

Goals and objectives of the department

The main goal of the department is to ensure the implementation of educational, teaching and research tasks aimed at training qualified specialists for the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To achieve this goal, the following tasks have been defined:

- to become a leading organizational and coordination center for the development of topical issues of the spiritual and socio-cultural life of the republic;

- expansion of forms of cooperation with scientific and public organizations of both Kazakhstan and foreign countries in order to exchange experience and jointly develop scientific projects;

- development of work with the youth of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to form civic responsibility, patriotism and high moral values among the younger generation;

- the study of value orientations, the spiritual world and socio-political views of youth.

The department trains students in all bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The training is conducted in Kazakh, Russian and English. The teaching staff of the department consists of 20 people, including 1 PhD, 8 candidates of sciences and 11 masters of sciences.

The educational activity of the department meets the requirements of the state compulsory educational standards and standard programs of disciplines.

Over the past five years, the teaching staff of the department has published textbooks on the following undergraduate disciplines: “Interesting philosophy” (T.M. Sadykova, H.S. Abdildina, A.G. Gappasova), ”Interesting World of Philosophy” (M.K. Kakimzhanova), “Cultural Studies” (S.K. Rakimzhanova, M.K. Kakimzhanova), “Political Science and Sociology” (G.M. Mukhambetkalieva, Zh.R. Zeynullina), “Traditionalism in the Philosophy of Culture” (K.N. Alikenova), “Philosophy” in Russian (Zh.T. Kulzhanova), “Cultural Studies” in Russian (Zh.T. Kulzhanova, Zh.R. Zeynullina), “Social Philosophy” (H.S. Abdildina).

The department is systematically engaged in professional development of teachers in leading scientific and educational organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign countries. Teachers actively interact with universities in St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk, and also undergo internships under “Bolashak” international program in the UK (London) and the USA (Michigan).

Research work is one of the priorities of the department. The main goal of the research team is to integrate technologies of various disciplines and innovative social education in the agrotechnical field. An important place is occupied by the development of students’ scientific competencies aimed at improving creative abilities, social skills, critical thinking and effectiveness in individual activities.

The scientific activity of the department covers a wide range of areas: history of philosophy, social philosophy, ethics, aesthetics, philosophy of efficiency, culture and personality, regional ethnographic studies, ethnoconfessional issues, modern religious trends, Kazakh philosophy, socio-cultural changes, intercultural relations, gender studies and others. The research work is aimed at solving fundamental problems of socio-humanitarian education and interdisciplinary research, as well as applied tasks related to the use of social technologies in agrotechnical education.

The department has prepared 7 scientific projects for participation in the grant competition.

1. “The impact of technogenic reality on the mentality of modern society (humanitarian research analysis)”

2. “Using the effectiveness of the development by the Government of Kazakhstan of indicators for the provision of electronic public services”

3. “Incentives, institutional conditions and social risk of entrepreneurial activity in Kazakhstan and Belarus”

4. “The search for the philosophical potential of the sacred space and the analysis of its impact on the modernization of the national code of the Kazakh country”

5. “Problems of integration of citizens with disabilities into the educational process and the likelihood of ways to solve them (case study on the example of Astana city and Akmola region, Kazakhstan)”

6. “Population aging as a global problem: the quality of life of the elderly in the Republic of Kazakhstan”

7. “Socio-political portrait of student youth in the context of the creation of new Kazakhstan (humanitarian research analysis)”.

Students and undergraduates, together with the teaching staff, actively participate in annual conferences of the national and international level, in various scientific events such as the Seifullin Readings, etc.

The department also conducts creative and educational activities through the philosophical clubs “Dostyk” and “Laboratory of the Demographic Future”, as well as in the educational circle “Saryarka” and in the internship center “Tolyk Adam”.

  



HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

In 1958, the Department of Marxism-Leninism was founded at the Tselinograd Agricultural Institute. It taught all social sciences, providing ideological support for the educational process. The first head of the department was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Portnoy I.Ya. The first teachers included Candidates of Historical Sciences Sergeev I.S., Ivanov I.I., Iskakov Zh.I., and Candidate of Economic Sciences Li N.N.

* 1961 - renamed the Department of Political Economy;

* 1965 - renamed the Department of History of the CPSU;

* 1974 - renamed the Department of Scientific Communism;

Since 1975, the Department of Philosophy began to function as an independent division. In different years, the department was headed by Candidates of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professors Usenov S.M., Zharkenov B.Zh., Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Zorin V.I., Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Burbaev T.K., Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Abdina A.K., Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Begalinova K.K., Candidate of Philosophy Abdildina Kh.S., Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor Kakimzhanova M.K., currently the Department of Philosophy is headed by Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor Esbol Yesenbauly Mukhanbetkaliev.

The formation of the department and the development of its scientific, educational and educational potential is carried out thanks to the experience and professionalism of highly qualified teachers Associate Professors Sharonova V.P., Grivennaya V.K., Ageyev V.M., Baimagambetova A.Zh., Mikhnova S.A., Candidates of Historical Sciences, Associate Professors Degay V.M., Shlyakhtich T.G., Zhdanova T.A., Candidate of Political Sciences Shchelokova E.A., and also a great contribution was made by senior teachers, candidates of philosophical sciences Zaslavsky S.A., Tokaev S.M., Okuneva A.S., Kasimova S.B., Abdildina Kh.S., Kakimzhanova M.K., Sadykova T.M. and others.

International cooperation

The department actively develops international relations in the field of educational, educational-methodical and scientific activities. Cooperation has been established with leading foreign universities and academies. In particular, cooperation has been established between A.K. Abdina and CONCORD International Academy (France), E.E. Mukhanbetkaliev, S.B. Kurmanova - Alcide de Gasperi University of European Regional Economics (Poland), M.K. Kakimzhanova - the University of Reading (Great Britain), S.K. Rakimzhanova - St. Clement of Ohrid Sofia University (Bulgaria), Zhanabaev Zh.M., Gappasova A.G. - Istanbul-European Institute (Turkey), T.M. Sadykova - the University of Kozhaeli (Turkey), Zeynullina Zh.R. - Yanka Kupala Grodno State University (Belarus), Aralkhanov B.U., Kaldybekov E.G. - Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts (Turkey), Kaskarbaeva Z.A. - Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University and other prestigious universities of the world.

Since March 5, 2024, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Margarita Kabdulaevna Kakimzhanova has been undergoing a scientific internship at the University of Reading (Great Britain) under the international program “500-Galym” in the specialty “Management in the field of education”. As part of the internship, Kakimzhanova M.K. under the guidance of Doctor of Science, Deputy Director for Teaching and Learning Sarah Marston, Professor Yota Dimitriadi, Master of Science, Associate Professor Maggie Copsey-Blake, masters a program covering modern approaches to teaching and learning, including pedagogical innovations, inclusive education, expert training, digital technologies and professional development.

As part of the academic mobility under the international program “Bolashak”, the teachers of the department underwent scientific practice in the UK and the USA: Abdin A.K., Sheryazdanova G.R., Tursynbaev B.Zh., Kakimzhanova M.K.

Due to the high scientific potential of the faculty of the department, over the past five years, monographs by Kulzhanova Zh.T. “Development of Technique and Technology in the Period of Globalization”, Mukhambetkalieva G.M. have been published. “Kazakh-German cooperation”, Amed H. “Zhenimpaz Erik”, Mukhanbetkaliev E.E. “Abai kara sozderindegi Adam-Alem katynasy masselesi”, Rakimzhanova S.K. “Dastur falsafasy”.

   

Student life

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS

An important area of activity of the department is educational work, which is organized annually and covers several key areas.

Civil-patriotic orientation:

• Lecture hours dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

• Giving an explanatory lecture to students in connection with the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokayev K.-Zh. To the people of Kazakhstan.

In the direction of spiritual, moral and intellectual education:

  • Meeting with veterans of “Karttaryn kadirlegen el ardakty”;

- Seminar “The role of the family in the formation of a tolerant attitude of youth”.

In the direction of cultural, aesthetic, intellectual education:

- Expressive reading of S. Seifullin's poems "Zhyr Darya – Saken";

- “Open talk”: cognition of a thinking personality - some important truths in the life and work of Immanuel Kant.

In the direction of legal education:

  • Guest lecture “Honesty is a mirror of humanity: the formation of an anti–corruption culture” with representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • “Beware of non-traditional religious movements!”

The main focus is on the development of students’ civic engagement, improving their political literacy and educational level, as well as ethno-cultural education and development.

There are several clubs at the department, including “Dostyk” Cultural Club (under the leadership of A.G. Gappasova and T.M. Sadykova), “Saryarka” educational club (headed by H.S. Abdildina) and “Laboratory of the Demographic Future” (under the leadership of S.B. Kurmanova and Z.A. Kaskarbayeva).

The main purpose of the clubs is to form students’ national identity, develop self-expression and public speaking skills, as well as nurture personal qualities and increase creative potential.

As part of the clubs’ activities, various events are held, including educational evenings, round tables and competitions, as well as meetings with political figures and student conferences. These events contribute to the active involvement of students in public life, the formation of their critical thinking and the expansion of worldview.
