IX International Summer School “Protection of Water and Forest Resources”

    From June 18 to 28, 2024, the IX International Summer School (from now on referred to as ISS) “Protection of Water and Forest Resources” was held in a hybrid format, organized by the Department of Forest Resources and Forestry of S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University. International Summer School was devoted to EU Erasmus+ project in water diplomacy where bachelors, masters, and doctoral students from universities in China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan participated. Professors from the USA, Hungary, Spain, Netherlands, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan delivered lectures and conducted practical classes on the problems of water and forest resources. Regular lecturers were Javier Rodrigo-Illari, Deputy Director of the Hydrogeological Research Group of the Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering, Professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), and Zargar Meysam, Professor at the Department of Agrobiotechnology at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.

    The ISS participants visited the Burabay National Park, the lakes of the Shchuchinsk-Borovskoy resort area, the Arboretum, and the Higher College of Forestry, Ecology, and Tourism, where practical classes took place. The program also included cultural and sports events.

    Before the closure of the ISS, a round table was organized with employers who determined what skills a graduate of a bachelor's and master's degree program in water resources and forestry should have.
