Training in water diplomacy within Erasmus+ project in Uzbekistan

During the period of August 5 till 16, 2024, on the basis of SRU Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Mechanization of Agriculture and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy it is held training in water diplomacy for university lecturers and International Summer School for doctoral candidates within the framework of EU Erasmus+ project 101082976 - HWCA-Erasmus-EDU-2022-CBHE “Strengthening Higher Education in the Water Sector for Climate Resilience and Security in Central Asia” and CAREC in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The aim of the training is to exchange knowledge, experience and best practices in the field of water diplomacy, which is an important factor in the preparation of future specialists - water diplomats and support for regional cooperation in finding solutions in bilateral and multilateral negotiations on water issues.

The training is held with the assistance of leading international and national experts, consultants and practitioners in the field of water resources management and water diplomacy, in particular IHE DELFT, UN University, CAREC, SIC ICWC, IWRM, World Bank, University of Freiburg, URCA, University of Bergamo, Institute of Water Problems and Hydropower of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Ecology, Environment and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, etc.

The training participants are lecturers and scientists from the partner universities of the HWCA project: Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, National Research University Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, University of World Economy and Diplomacy, K.I. Skryabin Kyrgyz National Agrarian University, S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (with participation of Kitaibekova S.O., Kazangapova N.B., Yesmurzaeva A.K.), H.Dulati Taraz University, Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sh. Shotemur Tajik Agrarian University, Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University and Turkmen Agricultural Institute. A visit to the Chirchik and Zarafshan reservoirs is planned as part of the training.
