The "Veterinary Medicine" Educational Programs Group was established following a reorganization in 2025. Training is conducted in accordance with the State License for educational activities in the field of higher and postgraduate education No. KZ25LAA00035932 dated November 30, 2023 (July 2, 2008), and the license supplements for specific educational fields. This educational programs group incorporates several sub-groups of educational programs:

Personnel policy is one of the main development priorities of the Educational Program Group “Veterinary Medicine” in the implementation of educational programs. It is aimed at preserving the professional potential of the teaching staff, creating conditions for the scientific and pedagogical development of lecturers, introducing mechanisms for differentiated remuneration, and forming a favorable moral and psychological climate within the team. The academic staff of the Educational Program Group “Veterinary Medicine” provide instruction to students in more than 20 educational programs, including animal husbandry, veterinary safety, food safety, aquaculture and water resources, hunting management, agronomy, soil science and agrochemistry, breeding and seed production, advanced agricultural sciences, agricultural technology, digital agricultural systems and complexes, agricultural engineering, animal science, crop production, phytosanitary safety, and others. The State Educational Institution "Veterinary Medicine" serves 51 teaching staff, including 51 full-time and 7 part-time. The faculty comprises 4 doctors of science, 27 candidates of science, 12 PhDs, and 9 master's degrees. The number of degrees held by the State Educational Institution is 69.35. Six of the faculty members hold the academic titles of professor, 14 associate professor, and 2 associate professor. The faculty serving the State Unitary Enterprise "Veterinary Medicine" meets the qualification requirements for licensing educational activities. The State Unitary Enterprise "Veterinary Science" conducts scientific research and actively participates in funded scientific projects and programs of relevant departments. Funding for scientific research of the State Educational Institution "Veterinary Science" in the 2021-2025 academic years was carried out through nine projects (Table 1), including one project for 2021-2023 within the framework of the PCF of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan (with annual funding of 22,000.00 thousand tenge), one project under the "Zhas Galym" program for 2022-2024 (8,000.00 thousand tenge), seven projects for 2018-2024 - the State Fund of the Ministry of Military and Social Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (annual funding of 157,000.00 thousand tenge). To implement the projects, four business partners annually raised funds totaling 9,400,000 tenge. In addition, the department is implementing two commercialization projects funded by the Science Foundation of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
1. "Organization of Production of Resource-Saving Feed Additives to Enhance Cattle Productivity" with a funding volume of 395,831.00 thousand tenge.
2. "Production of Extruded Compound Feed Based on Alcohol and Slaughterhouse Waste." Funding volume: 932,000.00 thousand tenge, including grant funds of 350 million tenge. Investor: MV4 Aidabol Meat Processing Plant LLC, SHAT Individual Entrepreneur.
Seventy-two percent of the faculty is involved in research at the State Educational Institution "Veterinary Medicine," with 100% of doctoral students and 66% of master's students participating in research projects. Bachelor's students are not involved in research projects. The share of young scientists in research projects is 20%. Sixteen percent of the department's faculty participated in funded grant projects in other departments.
Funded scientific projects were used to purchase fixed assets and auxiliary materials for a total of 36,577,882 tenge, including office equipment (computers; multifunctional units) for 2,867,470 tenge, laboratory equipment, chemical reagents and devices (Laboratory mill, Hay chopper, Horizontal paddle mixer, RIDA®ABSORBANCE Reader, Huma Score Premium LED microscope, TA-Lab voltammetric analyzer, two-chamber programmable oven, double-distiller, etc.) for 33,710,412 tenge.

The State Unitary Enterprise "Veterinary Science" constantly seeks opportunities to integrate with other scientific and educational institutions and businesses to conduct joint research.
In particular, the department's scientists are currently implementing a research project with international partners, "Joint research on the prevention and control of cross-border animal diseases between China and Kazakhstan and the construction of the "Belt Add Road" technology cooperation platform," in collaboration with the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute | Harbin, China. The project is led by Professor S.K. Abdrakhmanov, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences.
Scientists including Acting Professor Baldzhi, PhD in Veterinary Sciences, and Associate Professor Zh.Sh. Adilbekov are conducting joint research with scientists from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences on food safety. Associate Professor Galia Zamaratskaya of this university is a scientific advisor to three doctoral students in the department.
Professor S.K. Abdrakhmanov, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, has engaged leading scientists from the University of Minnesota (USA) (Professor A.M. Perez) and the University of Zurich (Switzerland) (Professor P. Torgerson) in the department's research, which focuses on veterinary epidemiology.
In addition, the department's scientists submit research projects, conduct scientific research, and train master's and doctoral students in collaboration with other domestic and international scientific organizations.




INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND INTERNSHIPS FOR SCIENTISTS
Within the framework of international cooperation, the university has concluded contracts, memorandums and agreements with more than 100 universities and organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and countries of the near and far abroad.
The staff of the State Unitary Enterprise "Veterinary Science" fruitfully cooperates with the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after K.I. Scriabin (Russian Federation), RosBioTech University (Russian Federation), Xinjiang Agricultural University (China) and the University of Genoa (Italy), with the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk); Jules Liebig University of Giessen (Germany); Warsaw University of Life Sciences; University of Agriculture (Krakow, Poland); Nitra Agricultural University (Slovakia); Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (China); Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (China); Pennsylvania State University (USA); University of Minnesota (USA), and other organizations.
Over the past five years, scientists from the State Public Institution "Veterinary Science" have completed internships under the Bolashak program: I.T. Dzhakupov, D.T. Rakhimzhanova, Michigan State University (USA) 2025-2026.
ACADEMIC MOBILITY
As a result of the increasing internationalization of higher education, new opportunities are emerging for academic mobility programs—reciprocal student exchanges or memorandums signed between higher education institutions.
Favorable conditions have been created for obtaining a high-quality education not only for domestic students but also for international students, including master's and doctoral students.
International students from Russia, Mongolia, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan study in all educational programs at the State Educational Institution "Veterinary Medicine." In 2026, over 40 students from Turkmenistan were admitted to the Veterinary Security program under the scholarship program.

After receiving a bachelor's degree, graduates have the opportunity to continue their education in master's and doctoral programs at universities (Russia, China, Canada, Japan, etc.)

Students and postgraduates of the State University of Veterinary Medicine annually travel to study at universities abroad: the Slovak Agricultural University, Nitra, Slovakia; the Agricultural University, Krakow, Poland; Missouri State University, USA; Xinjiang University, Urumqi, China, and others.

The State Unitary Enterprise "Veterinary Science" includes the Joint Kazakh-Chinese Laboratory for Biological Safety (SKKLBB) and the Kazakh-Czech International Scientific Center for Aquaculture (KCISA). These centers and laboratories provide practical training and dual education.
Currently, university scientists are working on research projects in the laboratory, conducting doctoral and master's student research and theses, and conducting practical classes for students.
The SKKLB was established within the framework of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on scientific and technical cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Xinjiang Agricultural University, and the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University.

This laboratory was created to study and diagnose infectious animal diseases. The laboratory's safety and equipment levels allow it to work with pathogens that cause particularly dangerous, transboundary animal diseases. The laboratory operates according to the BSL-2 safety standard.
We also have a "Feed and Milk Quality Assessment Laboratory." We provide zootechnical analysis of milk and feed for farm animals. A distinctive feature of the laboratory is the use of wet chemistry methods on modern automated analyzers from FOSS Analytical (Denmark).

Department of Veterinary Medicine held in 2001 when the two departments “non-communicable diseases" and «infectious diseases".
Department of "non-communicable diseases" was organized in 1997 and directed it associate professor Abdrakhmanov T.Zh. Its membership includes the following disciplines: Internal non-communicable diseases, clinical diagnostics, obstetrics, surgery (operational, general, private), biotechnology, veterinary radiobiology.
The department "communicable disease" was founded in 1997 and directed it Senior Lecturer Ibraev B.K. (1997-2001) . The department "communicable diseases" was formed as a result of the reorganization of the department "epizootology and parasitology", which he founded and for 13 years was in charge from 1976 to 1989, Doctor of Veterinary Science, Professor Kadyrov N.T.
In his time at the department worked such outstanding scientists, Professor Kadyrov N.T., Matusevich V.F., Subbotin V.M., Labunskiy B.M., Docents Shakhmanov B.S., Mingilev V.P., Associate Professor Poyarkov V.N., associate professor Tanraev A.D., Rodionov V.G. and etc.
Since 2001, the staff of the department includes the following disciplines: "Internal non-communicable diseases" , "Clinical Diagnosis" , "Obstetrics , gynecology and biotechnology of reproduction", "Operative Surgery", "Total and private surgery", "Hygiene and sanitation reproduction", "Epizootology and infectious diseases", "Parasitology and parasitic diseases", "Primary veterinary care", "Fundamentals of veterinary Medicine", "Disease of animals and birds" that are taught in 7 specialties. The head of the department was associate professor Abdrakhmanov T.Zh., which in December 2002 was appointed dean of the faculty. From January 2002 to 2012 he headed the Dzhakupov I.T. From 2012 to the present day head of the department - Doctor of Veterinary, professor Abdrakhmanov T.Zh.
Since September 2020, the department is headed by Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor Mukhanbetkaliev Ersyn Ergazyevich.
The purpose of the organization of the department is to implement educational programs on the three-level training 6В09101 - «Veterinary Safety», 7M090101- «Diagnosis treatment and prevention of animal diseases» and 8D090101 - «Veterinary welfare of animals» , as well as training sessions on special subjects "Food safety", "Technology of production and processing animal products" of the Faculty of veterinary and livestock technology .

Educational activities are carried out under license series KZ18LAA00017628, 09.01.2020 was issued, and an application for a license №20, issued by 08.01.2020. Preparation of doctoral students at the university on a specialty "8D09101 - «Veterinary welfare of animals» carried out since 2011. Educational activities are carried out on the basis of a series of KZ18LAA00017628 license issued 09.01.2020 and the application of a license №021, issued 08.01.2020. According to the order of MES RK №3 from 08.01.2020. Validity of the license - without restrictions.
In the 2020-2021 academic year, a contingent of students is 617 students, of which 429 are taught in the national language, which is 69,5 %.517 students are enrolled on government educational grants and 73 on a fee - contract basis. In 2019, the specialty 7M09101 - «Diagnosis treatment and prevention of animal diseases» passed the state certification, and in december 2019 passed the specialized accreditation IAAR what was issued a certificate (from 20.12.2019, №АВ2846 registration number).

The department developed annual and long-term plans of research, covering a wide range of issues relevant to the region and the republic: in particular the diagnosis and treatment and prevention of infectious, non-contagious and obstetric pathology in animals. Guest lectures were held at the Institute of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.
From April 13 to 17, 2026, a series of guest lectures, seminars, and a round table were successfully held at Казахский агротехнический исследовательский университет им. С. Сейфуллина, organized by the Institute of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.
The events focused on modern approaches to conducting serological tests for diagnosing infectious diseases in horses, attracting strong interest from students and academic staff.
The keynote speakers were invited scholars from the People’s Republic of China: Professor Вэй Го and Associate Professor Ши Ху. They shared their practical experience, presented advanced diagnostic methods, and engaged actively with participants’ questions.
The sessions featured lively discussions on current issues in veterinary science and provided a platform for professional exchange. Participants highlighted the high level of organization and the practical relevance of the content.
These events contributed to strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the professional development of students and faculty members.

During the form-classes, teachers organize subject discussions on memorable dates (Constitution Day, Nauryz, etc.), as well as on topical issues of education and development of future specialists. Much attention is paid to the cultural and creative development of students. Curators and students attend exhibitions, theaters and other culture centers of the city regularly.Students of the Department take an active part in city and republican events, participate in city and republican events, in sports competitions held at the University and at the city level.
The best student works are submitted to University and national competitions of scientific works. According to the results of these competitions, many students who won prizes were encouraged with diplomas and valuable gifts.

In 2020, at the Republican subject Olympiad, held in KazNAU, 5th course student E. Kurmangaliyev took third place, Zh. Zhangazakkyzy – third place supervised by D. Rahimzhanova, candidate of veterinary sciences, docent.
According to the rating of the National accreditation center of the Ministry of education and science of Kazakhstan, in 2015, the specialty was awarded 2nd place among the Universities training the specialty “Veterinary medicine”. In 2014, according to the center of the Bologna process and academic mobility, 6B09101 –“Veterinary safety” specialty took the second place among higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan.
Students of the department take an active part in municipal and republican events, participate in municipal and republican parades, in sports competitions held at the university and at the municipal level.The best student works participate in university and republican competitions of the best works. According to the results of these competitions, many students who won prizes are awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts.

Students are actively engaged in scientific activities, supervised by leading teachers of the department. In 2019, 3dyear students M.Orazbek, A.Nurkenov, together with associate professors of the department G.T.Eszhanova, D.T. Rakhimzhanova attended the 5th international congress of pharmacologists and toxicologists in St. Petersburg.In the same year, undergraduates G. Uteshev and G. Serikkanyzy took 1st place in the Start-Up summer school of science in Almaty.
